Considering he's exceeded 30 homers seven times in his career, it shouldn't be surprising if he has a big second half in 2024, though his slow start could prevent him from reaching that milestone this year.       Advice: Suarez went a week without an appearance, so he was fresh Wednesday. He needed just 14 pitches (10 strikes) to get the last four outs of this victory, which resulted in his 21st save in 22 chances this year.       Greene went 3-for-4 with a triple, a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the Twins.

      Advice: Greene was an offensive force as he recorded his 16th home run of the season and pushed his OPS up to .851. The 23-year-old had already surpassed his previous career best of 11 home runs in a season, and he's now up to a career-high 43 RBI this year as well after Wednesday's effort. Greene could be closing in on his first All-Star appearance, but at the very least he's been a strong fantasy asset who continues to trend upward given his promising skill set.       Logan Gilbert allowed four runs with six strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a loss against the Orioles on Wednesday.

      Advice: Gilbert worked through two quiet innings against the Orioles before things unraveled a bit in the third. He walked two batters to put a pair of runners on for Ryan O’Hearn, who doubled to put the Orioles on the board with two runs. Ryan Mountcastle singled to make it a three run game before Gilbert struck out the final batter to escape the frame. He surrendered one more run on a solo homer by O’Hearn in the fifth and recorded one out in the sixth before his day was done. The 27-year-old right-hander will take a 2.91 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a 108/24 K/BB ratio across 117 2/3 innings into a start against the Padres in San Diego on Tuesday.       Robert Suarez shut the Rangers down with two strikeouts across 1 1/3 innings to earn the save on Wednesday.

      Advice: Suarez’s magnificent season continued in this one as he eviscerated the Rangers with his blazing fastball and changeup. This was by far the most he’s used his changeup in a single outing at 43% and it seemed to surprise the Rangers.       Riley Greene went 3-for-4 with a homer, triple and two RBI on Wednesday evening, helping to lead the Tigers to victory over the Twins.

      Advice: Greene smacked a two-out triple in the first inning, but the Tigers were unable to cash him in. He then reached on an infield single to load the bases with two outs in the third inning, then rode home on Carson Kelly’s grand slam. He also clubbed a 427-foot (111.8 mph EV) two-run blast off of David Festa in the fifth inning that extended the Tigers’ lead to 7-1. With the three-hit attack, the dynamic 23-year-old outfielder is now hitting .260/.354/.497 with a team-leading 16 homers, 43 RBI and four stolen bases on the year.       Jared Jones was removed from Wednesday’s start against the Cardinals after five innings due to a right lat strain.

      Advice: The assumption when Jones was pulled after just 78 pitches was that it was simply another way for the Pirates to manage the 22-year-old hurler’s workload, but it sounds like there was an injury issue at play as well. Jones told reporters after the game that he wasn’t too concerned about it, but the Pirates aren’t going to take any unnecessary risks with him.       Advice: Jones managed to get through five innings of one-run ball while striking out five batters and walking two before coming out of Wednesday's contest. The 22-year-old said after the game that he could have kept pitching if necessary, but the team opted for a cautious approach in order to prevent his injury from worsening.     • Oneil Cruz delivers walk-off hit to beat Cardinals
      Oneil Cruz delivered a game-winning single in the 10th inning on Wednesday, leading the Pirates to a 5-4 walk-off victory over the Cardinals.

      Advice: Cruz followed Bryan Reynolds’ game-tying single in the bottom of the 10th-inning by scalding a 106-mph line-drive to right field off Cardinals reliever JoJo Romero that sent the Pirates faithful home in walk-off fashion. The 25-year-old shortstop recorded an impressive three batted ball events in the extra-inning marathon with exit velocities over 106 mph. There have been some considerable ups and down this season for Cruz, which isn’t totally unexpected after missing nearly all of last year due to a serious leg injury, but he’s had some extremely promising moments.
