    • Ready for rehab assignment
Bae (wrist) will join Triple-A Indianapolis to begin a rehab assignment Thursday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: The outfielder has been sidelined since early June with a sprained right wrist. Given his short absence, Bae shouldn't need extensive time in the minors to get ramped up before being activated. While Bae has been sidelined, the Pirates have been leaning on a combination of Jack Suwinski and Michael Taylor in center field. Rotowire.com Today, 12:24 pm

    • Taking seat Wednesday
Schneider is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Schneider will retreat to the bench after he started in each of the past three games while going 2-for-12 with a solo home run, a double and two walks. With Schneider out of the lineup, the Blue Jays will open up a spot in the outfield for Kevin Kiermaier, who will be flanked by Daulton Varsho in left field and George Springer in right field. • Alek Thomas’s rehab assignment on hold
Alek Thomas’s rehab assignment is again on hold as he deals with soreness, but he could resume playing in games this weekend.

Advice: Thomas has had a tough time making his way back from a hamstring injury suffered March 31. He had a significant setback on his original rehab assignment in early May, and while this doesn’t seem to be nearly as serious, his body continues to hold him back. Thomas last played for the Rookie ACL Diamondbacks on Monday, going 3-for-3 with a double. Rotoworld Today, 11:44 am

    • Rehab assignment paused
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Wednesday that Thomas' (hamstring) rehab assignment has been paused due to "general soreness," Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Lovullo added that he's "very" optimistic Thomas will be able to resume the rehab assignment later this week, so it would appear this isn't a significant setback. Thomas had a bigger setback back in early May with his left hamstring, an injury which has kept him on the shelf all season. The goal has been for Thomas to be activated June 25 at the start of a homestand, but that date might be pushed back a bit now even if he's able to resume playing rehab games this weekend. • Sent back to Norfolk
The Orioles optioned Stowers to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Advice: Stowers posted a respectable .763 OPS over his five-week stay with the Orioles, but the club simply didn't have regular playing time available for him. He had started in just one of Baltimore's last nine games, so Baltimore will send him back to Norfolk so that he can see steadier at-bats. Utility man Nick Maton was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 10:18 am

    • Kyle Stowers gets sent down by Orioles
Orioles optioned OF Kyle Stowers to Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Stowers loses his roster spot because Juan Soto ran into Jordan Westburg last night and the Orioles don’t want to play down an infielder. Stowers was barely playing anyway, having totaled 36 plate appearances in five weeks with the club. He hit .286/.278/.486. Rotoworld Today, 10:10 am

    • Not in Washington lineup
Senzel is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Senzel is hitless over his last five games, so he will be given a day off to regroup. Trey Lipscomb will start at third base in Senzel's stead. Rotowire.com Today, 9:58 am

    • Alex Kirilloff set to see back specialst
Alex Kirilloff, now on the major league IL, said the Twins knew about his back problem before sending him down last week and that he had an MRI back on May 26.

Advice: This definitely wasn’t a case of a player hiding an injury and admitting to it after getting sent down; Kirilloff had been receiving daily treatment before games. Still, the Twins were upset that Kirilloff didn’t communicate of the severity of the problem, which he says has made it difficult for him to rotate on swings. Kirilloff wanted to keep playing through it in the majors, but after he was sent down to Triple-A, he decided it was better to shut it down for a spell, and he’s now set to see a back specialist. • Pete Crow-Armstrong starts versus lefty opener
Pete Crow-Armstrong is in the Cubs lineup against a lefty Wednesday for just the second time as a major leaguer.

Advice: Seeing Crow-Armstring and Michael Busch in and Patrick Wisdom out of the lineup against a lefty is odd, but it’s because the Giants are likely to treat starter Erik Miller as a true opener and lift him before he faces Crow-Armstrong even once in the ninth spot. This will be Miller’s fifth start, but he’s yet to get more than five outs in any of them. Rotoworld Today, 9:04 am
