    • Hangs on for fourth save
Garcia earned the save Thursday against the Orioles despite allowing two runs on a hit in the ninth inning. He struck out two.

Advice: Garcia had Baltimore down to their final out before hitting Austin Hays with a pitch and subsequently surrendering a two-run homer to Ryan O'Hearn, cutting Toronto's lead to 6-5. However, Garcia would then strike out Kyle Stowers for the final out, securing his fourth save this season. The 33-year-old Garcia has converted both of Toronto's two save chances since Jordan Romano (elbow) was placed on the IL on June 1. While he's allowed three runs in his last three innings, Garcia still sports a solid 2.16 ERA with a 0.72 WHIP and 33:7 K:BB across 25 innings this year. Rotowire.com Today, 3:10 pm

    • José Ramírez homers, drives in two against Royals
José Ramírez homered and drove in two runs in a loss Thursday to the Royals.

Advice: J-Ram took Brady Singer deep for his 17th homer of the season. He also drove in a run with an infield single. The 31-year-old has been outstanding in 2024 with 60 RBI, nine stolen bases and an .887 OPS. Rotoworld Today, 1:12 pm

    • Yimi Garcia picks up save despite allowing two runs
Yimi Garcia was credited with a save even after allowing two runs Thursday to the Orioles.

Advice: Garcia was handed a three-run cushion, and he needed it. He allowed a two-run homer to Ryan O’Hearn, but was able to limit the damage to just that roundtripper while picking up his fourth save of the year. He also struck out two, and Garcia’s ERA is still an outstanding 2.16 even with the homer. Rotoworld Today, 12:37 pm

    • Could be available this weekend
Munoz (back) played catch prior to Thursday's game in Oakland, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Advice: Drayer adds that Munoz was seen giving fist bumps to others afterward, which would seem to indicate things went well. Munoz had to be removed from an appearance Thursday versus the Athletics, but there's optimism he can avoid the injured list and could be available to pitch this weekend in Kansas City, per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. • Andrés Muñoz will likely avoid an IL stint
According to The Seattle Times’ Adam Jude, Andrés Muñoz (back) is “determined to pitch through his back strain” and will likely avoid an IL stint.

Advice: The Mariners’ closer has been pitching through the strain since the second game of the season, which may explain why he has had some “off nights” during the 2024 season. However, he has also pitched to a 1.73 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 26 innings, so it hasn’t been impacting him too much. “I’ve been here before,” said Munoz. “I’ve felt like this before, so I know we can manage that and be ready to go. ... I am 100% [with] this team.” Rotoworld Today, 10:17 am

    • Still in holding pattern
Munoz (back) said Wednesday that he's feeling better and remains optimistic he'll avoid a stint on the injured list, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The results of the right-hander's MRI are still pending, but Munoz appears confident the flareup of a lower-back issue that caused his removal from Tuesday's appearance is temporary. Munoz revealed Wednesday he had actually been dealing with his back strain since the second game of the season and has been managing it with treatment and other pain-management remedies. Consequently, the collision with the Athletics' Max Schuemann in Tuesday's game wasn't the actual culprit, as Munoz added that he had already been feeling back tightness when warming up in the bullpen that night. Munoz's MRI results could be the ultimate determining factor in whether he avoids an IL stint, with those results likely to be available at some point Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 9:10 am

    • Nabs second win
Garcia (2-0) picked up the win Wednesday over the Orioles, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: The right-hander needed only 10 pitches (eight strikes) to dispatch Baltimore's 6-7-8 hitters in the ninth, and Garcia got rewarded when Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the frame. Garcia has recorded a win (one), save (one) or hold (five) in seven of 10 appearances over the last month, posting a 2.53 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB in 10.2 innings during that stretch. He'll continue to serve as the Blue Jays' primary closer until Jordan Romano (elbow) returns from the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 8:32 am

    • Tyler Freeman gets a day off on Thursday
Tyler Freeman is not in the Guardians’ lineup on Thursday against the Royals.

Advice: It’s just a routine day off for the 25-year-old who continues to start regularly in center field for the Guardians. Freeman has moved back down in the lineup with both Stevan Kwan and Andres Gimenez back, which will hurt his counting stats, but he does have five home runs and eight steals on the year, so he remains valuable in deeper formats. • Getting Thursday off
Freeman is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Freeman had been in line to receive Wednesday's game off before that contest was postponed due to inclement weather, but he'll see his streak of 20 consecutive starts come to an official end Thursday. Though he's moved out of the leadoff spot since the Guardians brought back Steven Kwan from the injured list Friday, Freeman has continued to thrive with four hits -- including a game-winning home run Tuesday -- and a stolen base over his last four starts. Utility man Daniel Schneemann will get the nod in center field Thursday in Freeman's stead. Rotowire.com Today, 7:23 am
