      Munoz gave up a hit and struck out three over 1.2 scoreless innings Wednesday to record his seventh save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Royals.

      Advice: Austin Voth ran into trouble in the eighth inning, so Munoz got the call with runners on second and third and only one out to protect a 3-1 lead. The Mariners' closer did allow an inherited runner to score, but Seattle got the run right back in the bottom of the frame and Munoz dominated the ninth. It's the fourth time this season he's worked more than one inning to notch a save, and with Matt Brash (elbow) done for the year and Gregory Santos (lat) potentially not back until the All-Star break, Munoz may have to continue putting in extra work until Seattle settles on a new setup crew.       King (3-4) took the loss against the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven betters over 5.1 innings.

      Advice: King fell behind when he yielded three runs in the second inning, and San Diego's offense never put up a fight against Austin Gomber and a trio of Rockies relievers. King had been on a roll coming into Wednesday, putting up 13 scoreless frames over his previous two starts, but he's been very inconsistent this season, giving up at least four runs in four of his 10 appearances.     • Andrés Muñoz slams door on Royals on Wednesday
      Andrés Muñoz slammed the door on the Royals on Wednesday afternoon, recording the final five outs to protect a two-run lead and earn his seventh save of the season.

      Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander came on with runners at second and third with one out in the eighth inning and the Mariners leading 4-1. He did allow a run to score as Bobby Witt Jr. grounded out to second base, but then Muñoz punched out Vinnie Pasquantino to end the threat. He returned for the ninth where he allowed a leadoff double to Salvador Perez but nothing more — finishing the frame with a pair of strikeouts. He now holds a 1.47 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and a 24/7 K/BB ratio (18 1/3 innings) to go along with seven saves and a pair of wins on the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:54 pm
       
    • Michael King hit hard in loss to Rockies
      Michael King was hit hard in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Rockies, surrendering six runs on eight hits across his 5 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, King racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing just two free passes. The Rockies scored three times in the second inning — including a solo blast by Brenton Doyle — then tacked on two more in the third. King settled in nicely afterwards though and kept them at bay until the sixth, where he exited after allowing single that eventually came around to score. King got 14 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the afternoon while registering a CSW of 33 percent. With extreme inconsistency on the season, he now sports a 4.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 60/26 K/BB ratio over 54 innings through his first 10 appearances (nine starts).       Munoz earned a save against the Royals on Monday, striking out three batters in 1.1 perfect innings.

      Advice: Munoz was summoned from the bullpen in the top of the eighth inning with two outs, Seattle up by two runs and the tying run at the plate. He struck out Nelson Velazquez to end the threat, then got some stress reduction when the Mariners' offense put up two runs in the bottom of the frame. From there, Munoz closed things out without incident, fanning two of the three batters he squared off against in the ninth frame. The save was his sixth of the season and first since April 30, though no other Seattle pitcher recorded a save in the meantime. Munoz has looked great since his lone blown save of the campaign April 21, tossing 9.1 scoreless frames during which he's posted a 10:1 K:BB across eight appearances.       Advice: The Mariners won this game by four runs, but because the right-hander came in with the score 4-2, he still gets credit for the save. That’s the sixth of the season for the 25-year-old, and he’s lowered his ERA to an aesthetically pleasing 1.62 in the process.       Advice: King put four runners on base but also racked up eight strikeouts over his first three innings. He ended up missing out on the win after Yuki Matsui allowed the game-tying run in the eighth inning. King was unsteady late in April, but he's opened May with 13 scoreless innings. The right-hander has a 3.67 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 54:24 K:BB through 49 innings over nine appearances (eight starts) this season.       Michael King struck out 11 over seven scoreless innings against the Dodgers on Friday.

      Advice: Sensational. King was excellent against the Diamondbacks on Saturday, but this was a different level for the 28-year-old. He did walk three, but he threw 74-of-106 pitches for strikes and was able to get the punchout if there was even a sniff of trouble. The right-hander now has a 3.67 ERA and 54/24 K/BB, and he’s shown why the Padres were adamant about acquiring his services in the Juan Soto trade. Sadly, King doesn’t get a win because his bullpen blew a 1-0 lead after he left. He should keep the good run going against the Rockies at home next week. Rotoworld Friday, 8:58 pm
