    • Pete Alonso returns to lineup Friday vs. D-backs
      Pete Alonso went 1-for-5 with an RBI on Friday against the Diamondbacks in his return to the Mets’ lineup.

      Advice: Alonso was able to come off the bench and deliver a pinch-hit double during Thursday’s series opener, less than 24 hours after being diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right hand.     • Pablo López strong for seven in beating Astros
      Pablo López pitched seven innings of one-run ball Friday as the Twins downed the Astros 6-1.

      Advice: López generated 17 missed swings tonight, 12 of them with his fastball. His peripherals would suggest that he’s had pretty awful luck this season, but he was in close to peak form tonight. The one run he allowed came on an Alex Bregman 348-foot homer that Statcast said was only a homer in four ballparks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:40 pm
       
    • Yields four runs in no-decision
      Fedde did not factor into the decision in Friday's 12-5 loss to Milwaukee, allowing four runs on nine hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Fedde's start offered a mix bag, as he allowed a season-high 13 baserunners but also managed to provide eight punchouts. The 31-year-old right-hander has been a surprising source of strikeouts, as he's generated 66 in 69.1 total innings. With this four-run outing, his ERA now stands at 3.12 to go along with a 1.18 WHIP. Fedde is tentatively scheduled to make his next start against the Red Sox at home next week.     • Secures 17th save
      Suarez picked up the save Friday against Kansas City. He pitched one-third of an inning with no strikeouts, allowing no runs on one hit.

      Advice: Suarez entered to collect the last out in a bases-loaded jam with a five-run lead. After yielding a two-RBI single to Freddy Fermin, the San Diego closer induced a Nelson Velazquez flyout to secure the win. Suarez is now tied with Emmanuel Clase for second in the majors with 17 saves, trailing Ryan Helsley by one.     • Erick Fedde surrenders nine hits, four runs vs. MIL
      Erick Fedde surrendered four runs over five innings with eight strikeouts in a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.

      Advice: Fedde gave up nine of the 23 hits the Brew Crew picked up Friday, and four of the six walks. The right-hander was able to at least pick up some punchouts, but that’s the end of the positives. Fedde was outstanding last week with 6 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball against Baltimore, but he’s just not good enough to rely on consistent results.     • Robert Suárez gets one-out save against Royals
      Robert Suárez retired one of the two batters he faced for a save Friday against the Royals.

      Advice: The Padres were up 11-3 heading to the bottom of the ninth, but Stephen Kolek gave up hits to six of the eight batters he faced. That created a save situation for Suárez with the bases loaded in an 11-6 game.     • Returns to form in win
      Lopez (5-5) earned the win in Friday's 6-1 victory over Houston, allowing one run on six hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out nine.

      Advice: Lopez appeared to be in the form that led him to a seventh place finish in the 2023 AL Cy Young race. The Minnesota right-hander generated an impressive 17 whiffs en route to his six punchouts while lowering his season ERA to 4.84 in 67 innings. The lone blemish on his evening was the 348-foot solo shot Alex Bregman hit into Houston's Crawford Boxes in the fourth inning. Crawford also snagged his first steal of the campaign and has reached safely in eight of 11 games since his return from the IL, but he still carries a paltry .208/.301/.328 slash line across 143 plate appearances for the season.
