    • Jason Foley implodes in ninth inning on Friday
Jason Foley suffered a brutal blown save against the Yankees on Friday night, surrendering hits to all four batters that he faced.

Advice: Yikes. In what was a terrific pitcher’s duel that had the Tigers leading 1-0 heading to the ninth inning, Foley immediately got off on the wrong foot by allowing a leadoff single to Aaron Judge. Alex Verdugo then dropped down a bunt single with third baseman Zach McKinstry playing back, setting the stage for Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton then ripped an RBI double into right field on the second pitch he saw, and Anthony Rizzo followed with a run-scoring single to walk it off. Foley is probably still fine in the ninth inning, as he has converted nine of his first 10 save chances, though his 1.54 WHIP leads much to be desired. Rotoworld Today, 7:13 pm
    • Paul Sewald (oblique) expected to return Tuesday
Paul Sewald (oblique) is expected to be activated from the injured list ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Reds.

Advice: The 33-year-old right-hander has been shelved since the end of March due to a left oblique strain, but is finally ready to make his mark on the 2024 season. That means that Kevin Ginkel’s hold on the closer’s role will come to an end after the D’Backs’ weekend series against the Padres. Rotoworld Today, 3:28 pm

    • Could return for road trip
Diamondbacks manager Torrey Lovullo said Friday that Sewald (oblique) is expected back Tuesday for Arizona's road trip, John Gambadoro of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Sewald's rehab program was paused after the right-hander experienced soreness from his appearance with Triple-A Reno earlier this week. He returned to action with a bullpen session Wednesday, and the right-hander is slated to pitch in an extended game Saturday, per Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com. If all goes well, Sewald could be back with the team as soon as Tuesday in Cincinnati. Sewald registered 34 saves last season, posting a 3.12 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 60.2 innings with Arizona and Seattle. Rotowire.com Today, 3:24 pm

    • Converts 10th save
Suarez pitched a perfect ninth inning to lock down his 10th save of the year in a 6-4 win over the Reds on Tuesday. He struck out one.

Advice: Suarez continues to let Padres fans live in peace about letting Josh Hader walk this past offseason. He's now a perfect 10-for-10 in save opportunities and is tied with Ryan Helsley atop the league. Suarez now owns an 0.71 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB in 12.2 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 5:01 am
    • Robert Suarez gets 10th save in 10 chances
Robert Suarez earned his 10th save with a perfect ninth against the Reds on Tuesday.

Advice: The Padres haven’t missed Josh Hader thus far, though it would have been nice if they had redistributed Hader’s money to the offense. Suarez is 10-for-10 saving games with a 0.71 ERA in 12 2/3 innings. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:05 pm
    • Throwing side session Wednesday
Sewald (oblique) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Sewald's last bullpen session, which was scheduled for Sunday, was put on hold after he experienced soreness following an appearance for Triple-A Reno. However, it's positive news that he's been cleared to toss a side session later in the week. The team will likely determine Sewald's next steps after his upcoming bullpen. • Earns league-leading ninth save
Foley allowed one hit and one walk over one scoreless frame to earn the save Sunday against the Royals. He struck out two.

Advice: Foley kept things interesting by allowing the first two batters he faced to reach but induced a groundout followed by two strikeouts to join four other relievers with his league-leading ninth save in as many opportunities. The Tigers' closer lowered his ERA to 1.38 with a 1.23 WHIP and 13 strikeouts across 13 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 2:32 pm
    • Jason Foley escapes with save on Sunday
Jason Foley pitched around two baserunners to earn a save in the Tigers’ 4-1 win over the Royals on Sunday.

Advice: Foley was called on to protect the three-run lead and immediately walked a batter and allowed a single. However, he was able to pitch himself out of trouble with a ground out and back-to-back strikeouts. The right-hander now has a 1.38 ERA and nine saves on the season. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:52 pm
    • Paul Sewald scheduled to throw bullpen Wednesday
Paul Sewald (oblique) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: The Diamondbacks announced on Saturday that Sewald was having his rehab slowed a bit due to renewed soreness, but it sounds like it’s only a minor issue. He’s still probably going to need another appearance or two in rehab games before he’s cleared to return, but it’s not all doom and gloom for the Diamondbacks’ closer. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:41 pm
