    • Astros recall Shawn Dubin on Saturday
Astros recalled RHP Shawn Dubin from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Advice: Dubin rejoins Houston’s bullpen prior to Saturday’s showdown against the Twins. The 28-year-old righty made nine relief appearances earlier this season for the Astros, posting a lackluster 6.59 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 13/7 K/BB ratio across 13 2/3 innings of work. • Astros option Alex Speas back to Triple-A
Astros optioned RHP Alex Speas to Triple-A Sugar Land.

Advice: Speas heads back to the minors to enable the Astros to bring up a fresh arm ahead of Saturday’s contest against the Twins. The 26-year-old righty has made only one relief appearance this season in the big leagues since being claimed off waivers from the Athletics. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

    • Evaluation coming next week
Muller (shoulder) is slated to be evaluated by team doctors next week, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Muller was scratched from his start Thursday and subsequently placed on the injured list due to left shoulder tendinitis, and he's been shut down from throwing for the time being. Team doctors will take a closer look in the coming days at how the rest might be aiding his progress, and a determination of when Muller might be able to begin a throwing program will be made at that point. • Nabs third win Friday
Stanek (3-0) got the win over the Angels on Friday, firing a perfect eighth inning during which he recorded two strikeouts.

Advice: Stanek came into the game tasked with preserving a newly minted 4-4 tie and quickly retired Luis Rengifo, Mickey Moniak and Taylor Ward -- the latter two on swinging strikeouts. The veteran right-hander then became the pitcher of record when Ty France slugged a go-ahead home run in the home half of the frame. Stanek now has four consecutive two-strikeout, one-inning appearances, and he's posted a 2-0 record with a 2.70 ERA, 0.45 WHIP, one save and two holds in his last seven outings overall. • Progresses beyond flat ground
Hendriks (elbow) threw fastballs and breaking balls off the front of the mound Thursday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Moving to any part of a mound represents another step forward in Hendriks' rehab from Tommy John surgery. The reliever had previously thrown off flat ground only. Rotowire.com Today, 6:32 am

    • Short outing Friday
Sanchez came away with a no-decision in Friday's 8-2 win over the Rangers, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk over four-plus innings. He didn't strike out a batter.

Advice: After throwing at least 76 pitches in each of his three prior starts, Sanchez saw his workload ratcheted back in this one as he tossed only 53 pitches (29 strikes), getting the hook after allowing back-to-back hits to lead off the fifth inning. The right-hander is still looking for his first win of the season -- and first since Sept. 13, 2020 -- and has completed five innings only once since getting a chance to start, but he figures to continue plugging a hole in the Marlins' rotation until Edward Cabrera (shoulder) gets healthy or the team decides to bring Max Meyer back up. Sanchez will carry a 6.06 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 17:14 K:BB through 35.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Guardians. • Early exit in Miami
Urena (1-5) took the loss Friday, giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks over 2.1 innings as the Rangers fell 8-2 to the Marlins. He struck out one.

Advice: An error by Marcus Semien in the third inning did Urena no favors, but the right-hander also wasn't fooling anyone, managing only five swinging strikes among his 65 pitches before getting the hook. Urena is on his fifth team in four seasons since leaving Miami after the 2020 campaign, and while he sports a solid 3.74 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through 45.2 innings for Texas this year, his 5.61 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over the prior three seasons suggest regression is coming. If he gets another turn through the rotation, Urena lines up for a home start next week, either Wednesday against the Tigers or Friday against the Giants. Rotowire.com Today, 6:17 am

    • Struggles with control, takes loss
Smyly (2-3) allowed two runs on a hit and three walks across 1.1 innings of relief Friday against the Reds. He struck out three.

Advice: While Smyly was effective at missing bats he was equally ineffective finding the plate. The three walks are a new season high and his BB/9 for the year is now up to 5.1, which would be a new career worst. Smyly will need to exhibit better control if he wants to chip away at his 5.06 ERA, and he's off the fantasy radar at the moment given his role and recent performance. Rotowire.com Today, 6:02 am

    • Giovanny Gallegos (shoulder) starts rehab assignment
Giovanny Gallegos (shoulder) tossed a perfect inning on Friday in a minor league rehab appearance for Triple-A Memphis.

Advice: Gallegos has been out since early May due to a right shoulder impingement, but appears to be getting close to returning to St. Louis. The 32-year-old veteran reliever struggled in 13 appearances to open the season and can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats. Rotoworld Today, 5:09 am
