    • Paul Goldschmidt homers in victory over Nationals
Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a solo homer on Monday in the Cardinals’ win over the Nationals.

Advice: Goldschmidt extended the Cardinals’ early lead with a solo shot -- his 12th big fly of the season -- off Nationals starter Mitchell Parker in the fourth inning. He also reached on a fielding error and came around to score on a Brendan Donovan double in the eighth inning as well. The 36-year-old veteran first baseman has gone deep only five times over his last 30 games and simply hasn’t produced enough so far this season to remain rostered in shallow mixed leagues. • Could start batting practice soon
Trout (knee) jogged on the field and hit some soft toss Monday, and the 32-year-old outfielder said he should progress to batting practice in a few days, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Trout continues to work his way back from surgery on the torn meniscus in his left knee in early May. It took him until late June to return to baseball activities, but he has been ramping up his workouts and is close to taking the next step in his rehab program. Trout is aiming to return from the injured list by the end of July, but he'll likely need a rehab assignment before returning to major-league action. Prior to his injury, Trout was slashing .220/.325/.541 with 10 home runs and 14 RBI over 126 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 3:09 pm

    • Carlos Correa in lineup after finger injury
Carlos Correa is in Monday’s starting lineup after leaving Sunday’s game with a bruised finger.

Advice: Correa is starting at shortstop and batting second tonight against the White Sox. Rotoworld Today, 2:33 pm

    • First to 20-20 mark
Ohtani went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases in a loss to the Brewers on Sunday.

Advice: Ohtani made the most of his lone hit, swiping both second and third base after singling in the third inning. The latter theft gave the slugger 20 steals on the campaign, and with 28 long balls, he is the league's first player to reach the 20-20 mark this season. This is the third time over the past four campaigns that Ohtani has achieved the feat. Rotowire.com Today, 12:34 pm

    • Bryce Harper “possibly” back on Tuesday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said “possibly” when asked if Bryce Harper (hamstring) will return on Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Bryce Harper was able to run the bases at “close to 100 percent” on Saturday and that was “the final step in his recovery.” The Phillies now just need to determine if “close to 100 percent” is enough to activate their star. Obviously, the series against the Dodgers is a big one, but the Phillies have a commanding lead in the NL East and a series with Oakland following this one against Los Angeles. With the All-Star break looming, the team could just decide to ensure Harper is fully healthy for the second part of the season. We likely won’t know for sure until Tuesday, which makes it tough for some fantasy managers in weekly lineup lock leagues. Rotoworld Today, 11:33 am

    • Hitting bench Monday
Jones is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Jones will retreat to the bench for the series opener in Cincinnati while southpaw Andrew Abbott takes the hill for the Reds. Hunter Goodman will get the start in left field in place of Jones, who is getting on base at a .355 clip but has provided few counting statistics (two home runs, one stolen base, seven RBI, six runs) in his 21 games since he returned from the injured list in mid-June. • Good to go Monday
Correa (finger) will start at shortstop and bat second in Monday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Correa was lifted in the first inning of Sunday's 3-2 win over the Astros after he was hit on his right hand by a pitch in his lone at-bat of the day. Fortunately, X-rays cleared Correa of any structural damage, with the Twins labeling his injury as a finger contusion. The injury apparently isn't inhibiting Correa in batting practice Monday, so he'll be ready to go as the Twins kick off a six-game week to close out their pre-All-Star-break schedule. • Drives in two in win
Arenado went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Arenado continued his hot stretch at the plate with his third consecutive game of two or more hits. It's the second time this season he's put together a streak of three straight multi-hit efforts, each of which has come over his last 22 appearances. He also picked up an RBI in consecutive games after a stretch during which he had only two RBI in his last 14 games. The veteran's slash line sits at a solid .270/.322/.379 but a lack of homers -- seven so far -- has stunted his fantasy value. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:49 pm

    • Shohei Ohtani swipes two bags in loss to Brewers
Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-5 and stole a pair of bases as the Dodgers fell to the Brewers on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.

Advice: Ohtani smacked a one-out single off of Dallas Keuchel in the third inning then proceeded to swipe second and third base before getting stranded there. He has now eclipsed the 20-steal plateau for the third time in his career and has already matched his total from the 2023 season. The 30-year-old superstar is slashing .314/.399/.637 with 28 homers, 65 RBI and 20 stolen bases through his first 88 games with the Dodgers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:08 pm
