    • Walker Buehler (elbow) to make debut Monday
Walker Buehler (elbow) is scheduled to make his season debut on Monday, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

Advice: It’s been about 20 months since Buehler has pitched in a major league game, but that will come to an end in just a few days. The 29-year-old hurler has been putting together multiple rehab stints to get ramped up for his return to the Dodgers. In his last outing, he allowed just one run across five innings and threw 75 pitches. This will be a big season for Buehler as he and the team have entertained the possibility of a contract extension in the past, but now it will be an important factor for the team as he enters free agency after 2024. • Another six shutout innings
Yamamoto (3-1) earned the win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing five hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Yamamoto allowed the leadoff man to reach in back-to-back innings to open the contest but still managed to keep Arizona's lineup at bay over six frames. The right-hander has now hurled 12 scoreless innings over his last two starts and has won each of his last three decisions after imploding in his MLB debut. He's also logged three straight quality starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:01 am
    • Making season debut Monday
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Buehler (elbow) will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Monday's game against the Marlins in Los Angeles, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Monday will mark Buehler's first start on a big-league mound since he underwent Tommy John surgery in August 2022. He made six starts during his minor-league rehab assignment, posting a 4.15 ERA and 1.62 WHIP while striking out 21 batters and walking nine across 21.2 innings. Since he's nearly two years removed from his last big-league start, the 29-year-old right-hander could show a bit of rust in his first few outings as he gets used to facing MLB hitters again. • Mason Miller silences Pirates in non-save spot
Mason Miller fired a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday in a non-save situation against the Pirates.

Advice: Miller got the call to protect a four-run lead in the final frame after needing 16 pitches to close out Tuesday’s victory less than 24 hours ago. He got Jack Suwinski to ground out and fanned Henry Davis before coaxing a game-ending ground out from Ke’Bryan Hayes. He averaged 100.8 mph on his fastball and needed just 10 pitches to spin a perfect frame. The hard-throwing 25-year-old righty has reeled off 12 consecutive scoreless appearances since April 2, and has converted eight saves to go along with a microscopic 1.26 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 29/4 K/BB ratio across 14 1/3 innings of work. Simply put, he’s one of the best relievers in baseball already. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:07 pm

    • Goes five innings in rehab start
Buehler (elbow) tossed five innings in a minor-league rehab appearance with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks while striking out five batters.

Advice: Buehler tossed 75 pitches in the outing, 11 fewer than he threw in his previous appearance. However, he completed five frames for the first time since beginning his rehab stint March 31. The right-hander's fastball topped out at 94.6 miles per hour, so he's not quite back to the velocity he displayed prior to his Tommy John surgery in August 2022. Nonetheless, Tuesday's start -- his sixth in the minors this season -- may have been Buehler's final step before rejoining the big-league rotation, as Dodgers manager Dave Roberts suggested prior to the outing that the hurler could make his next appearance with the big club, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. • Mason Miller strikes out side in earning save
Mason Miller struck out all three batters he faced Tuesday for a save against the Pirates.

Advice: It’s fine to marvel at Miller’s numbers in the closer’s role to date, but this is what an ace-level talent should be doing while pitching two or three innings per week. There’s a very good chance Miller would struggle to hold up as a starter, but we might never find out for sure. As is, Miller has a 1.35 ERA and eight saves in 13 1/3 innings. • Lights out for eighth save
Miller picked up the save Tuesday against Oakland, striking out three during a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Miller capped off April with yet another dominant display, punching out all three batters he faced. He appeared in 11 games during the month, allowing four hits and three walks with 30 strikeouts over 12.1 scoreless innings. He's also converted all eight of his save chances in 2024, giving him the sixth-most saves in MLB. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:36 pm

    • Falls to Baltimore
Cortes (1-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Orioles, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Three of Baltimore's four runs off Cortes came in the fourth inning, as the 29-year-old left-hander took a second straight loss. Cortes had gone seven innings in each of his previous two outings, allowing just three runs while striking out 13 in that span. His ERA now sits at 3.86 with a 1.10 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB across seven starts (42 innings). Cortes is currently scheduled to face the Tigers at home in his next start. • Takes loss Tuesday
Alzolay (1-3) allowed three unearned runs on two hits across one inning to take the loss Tuesday against the Mets.

Advice: Alzolay should have had a 1-2-3 sixth inning, but a Dansby Swanson throwing error gave the Mets life, and they took advantage. A single and a three-run home run by DJ Stewart quickly broke open a 1-1 tie, and New York hung on for the 4-2 win, which saddled Alzolay with his third loss of the season. While it wasn't all his fault Tuesday, it's been a struggle overall for the righty, as he blew four saves in the early going to get yanked from the closer's role. Hector Neris stepped in to replace Alzolay, and it doesn't look like things are going to change anytime soon. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:53 pm
