Advice: All the damage against Burnes came in the fifth inning when Oswaldo Cabrera launched a two-run home run. Despite allowing three or fewer runs for a seventh straight start, Burnes was stuck with the loss Wednesday as the Orioles offense could only manage three total hits and didn't score. While Burnes has allowed a home run in six of his seven starts this season, he owns a 2.61 ERA over 41.1 innings with 41 strikeouts -- the sixth most in the American League. Sanchez allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks over five-plus innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out one during the loss to the Angels.

Advice: Sanchez gave up a run in each of the first two innings. He then kept the Angels quiet until he was charged with two more runs without recording an out in the sixth. It was the first time this season Sanchez has allowed more than three earned runs in an outing. He tied his lowest strikeout total and forced just a single swinging strike in the subpar performance. Tanner Houck was brilliant in a tough-luck no-decision on Sunday night, piling up nine strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of one-run baseball.

Advice: Houck scattered just four hits on the evening and didn’t walk a batter. The lone tally against him came on an RBI single by Matt Mervis in the seventh inning — the final batter that Houck faced. The 27-year-old right-hander generated 16 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night — getting five or more whiffs on each of his slider, sinker and splitter — while posting a CSW of 35 percent. Skubal (4-0) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over seven innings against the Royals. He struck out six.

Advice: Skubal began the day by allowing a leadoff double to Maikel Garcia followed by an RBI single by Bobby Witt, but the Royals were able to muster only two harmless singles and a walk the rest of the way. Skubal entered the contest with an ERA of 5.09 and only one win in eight decisions over 11 career appearances against Kansas City but quickly settled in to post his fourth start out of six this season in which he's allowed one or fewer runs with no more than five baserunners against. Skubal, whose strong outing dropped his season-long ERA to 1.72 with a 0.74 WHIP, will look to continue his early-season dominance in his next start, tentatively slated to take place in New York with a weekend matchup against the Yankees. Tarik Skubal allowed one run on four hits in seven innings in a win over the Royals.

Advice: Skubal struck out six and walked one while throwing 91 pitches in those seven innings. He allowed just one extra-base hit and posted an impressive 34 percent whiff rate and 35 percent CSW. Interestingly, Skubal threw just 13 combined sliders and curves today, opting instead to rely heavily on pounding the zone with his four-seam and sinker and getting a tremendous 55 percent whiff rate on his changeup. However, part of what has made Skubal so good is a deeper arsenal that now allows him to go away from certain pitches and still have dominant outings.
