    • Kyle Gibson (back) will throw on Thursday
Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said Kyle Gibson “will play catch today” and then check in with the trainers to “determine whether he’ll be available today.”

Advice: While anything is possible, it seems likely that Gibson will not be available today, which would mean that he’s in line to start on Tuesday against the Braves. He would not be a recommended stream for that one. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

    • Logan Allen produces Quality Start against Mariners
Logan Allen gave up three runs in six innings against the Mariners on Thursday while being credited with the victory.

Advice: Allen was far from dominant, as he walked four and struck out only two. He was still able to hold the Seattle offense (mostly) in check, particularly after giving up a two-run homer to Dylan Moore in the first. The 25-year-old’s ERA is inflated by two horrible outings in May, and he’s pitched much better than the 5.23 ERA he currently carries. If the rotation stays the same, Allen will face the Orioles on Thursday. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

    • Likely to start Tuesday
Gibson (back) is likely to make his next scheduled start Tuesday against Atlanta, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Gibson was a late scratch from Wednesday's start in Miami due to back tightness. He will play catch Thursday to determine whether he could be available in relief for that game, but that's viewed as unlikely. Instead of just pushing his next start back a couple days, it sounds like the Cardinals will, in effect, skip his turn and have him ready to go Tuesday. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

    • Luis Castillo struggles in start vs. Guardians
Luis Castillo gave up five runs in five innings against the Guardians on Thursday while picking up a loss.

Advice: Castillo allowed eight hits and two walks while striking out four. He gave up two homers in the outing; a solo blast by Will Brennan, and a two-run shot to Andres Gimenez in the fifth. It’s a disappointing outing for the right-hander, and it’s the second time in three outings he’s given up five runs in as many frames. Expect Castillo to bounce back next week against the Rays in Tampa. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

    • Ryne Nelson fires seven strong in win over Nats
Ryne Nelson worked seven innings while giving up two runs to pick up a win Thursday over the Nationals.

Advice: Nelson allowed just three hits, and he struck out two while walking no one. He needed just 70 pitches to get through the seven frames, and outside of two solo homers, the 26-year-old pitched admirably. This also makes back-to-back strong starts for Nelson, as he has given up just three runs over those 13 innings. It’s worth pointing out that Washington and the White Sox were his opponents, however. Nelson will look to continue lowering his now 5.18 ERA against the Twins next Thursday. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

    • MacKenzie Gore allows 10 hits in loss to D-Backs
MacKenzie Gore allowed four runs while working five innings in a loss Thursday to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Gore did strike out seven, but he allowed 10 hits while also issuing two walks. Unsurprisingly, this left Gore with a high pitch count, as he needed 103 pitches to get through those five frames. The 25-year-old southpaw was coming off back-to-back excellent outings, but outside of the strikeouts, there weren’t many positives here. Gore is scheduled to face the Padres next week. • Officially promoted
The Cardinals recalled Kloffenstein from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Advice: After putting up a 3.97 ERA and 1.13 WHP through 77 innings at Triple-A, Kloffenstein will now come up from the minors to give St. Louis another multi-inning relief option in its bullpen. He'll take the place of Chris Roycroft, who was optioned to Memphis in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 11:12 am
    • Set to return Sunday
Rockies manager Bud Black said Thursday that Freeland (elbow) will rejoin the rotation Sunday versus the Nationals, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Advice: Freeland allowed two earned runs while striking out four over four innings in his third and final rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Albuquerque. The left-hander threw 67 pitches in the outing, so he probably won't be ready for a full workload Sunday. Most fantasy managers shouldn't be using Freeland, anyway. He posted a 13.21 ERA in four starts before going on the injured list in mid-April with a left elbow strain. Rotowire.com Today, 11:07 am

    • Recalled from Triple-A
The Royals recalled Cruz from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

Advice: With Dan Altavilla (oblique) headed for the injured list, the Royals will bring up Cruz to help replenish their bullpen depth. The 25-year-old has spent all season with Omaha, posting a 4.50 ERA and 1.42 WHIP through 26 innings. He allowed seven earned runs through 12.2 frames during his time in the majors last season and will likely only be used during low-leverage situations. Rotowire.com Today, 10:39 am
