    • Report: Astros add Omar Narváez on Triple-A deal
The Astros have signed Omar Narváez to a minor league deal, according to KPRC2’s Ari Alexander.

Advice: The Astros might be more worried about Victor Caratini’s hip injury than they were originally. If Caratini can’t return after the break, Narváez could overtake César Salazar to become Yainer Diaz’s backup. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:57 am
    • Gets MiLB deal from Houston
Narvaez agreed to a minor-league contract with the Astros on Wednesday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Advice: Narvaez was released by the Mets earlier this month after slashing .192/.254/.259 over 215 plate appearances since the start of the 2023 campaign. The left-handed-hitting catcher will offer experienced depth at Triple-A Sugar Land for now, but could be a candidate to join the big-league roster soon with Victor Caratini (hip) expected to be out until after the All-Star break. • Resting Wednesday
Rogers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Rogers had started behind the plate in three of Detroit's last four games while going 3-for-10 with a walk and two runs. He'll get a breather for the day game Wednesday while Carson Kelly draws the start at catcher. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:59 am
    • Lifts three-run homer
Jeffers went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Jeffers' seventh-inning blast briefly tied the game at 4-4 before the Diamondbacks took the lead back a half-inning later. The catcher opened June in an 0-for-17 skid, but he's hit safely in seven of his last eight games, going 8-for-31 (.258) in that span. He's up to a .236/.323/.482 slash line with 13 home runs, 41 RBI, 30 runs scored and two stolen bases over 255 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:17 pm

    • Catching bullpen session
Moreno (thumb) will catch Zac Gallen's (hamstring) bullpen session Thursday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: A sprained left thumb forced Moreno onto the injured list Saturday, and Wednesday's bullpen session will allow him to get a feel for how his thumb feels in his glove after a few days of recovery. Assuming all goes well, there is a strong possibility that the 24-year-old backstop will be able to return from the injured list when eligible next Tuesday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 4:00 pm

    • Ends slump Monday
Perez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-1 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Perez had gone 0-for-14 over his previous four games, and he'd gone seven contests without an extra-base hit. Both droughts ended when the catcher went back-to-back with Vinnie Pasquantino in the fourth inning, with Perez's homer serving as the decisive run. A poor June -- 11-for-57 (.157) over 20 games -- has taken some of the shine off of what was a strong start to the year for Perez. He's now slashing .280/.352/.462 with 12 homers, 46 RBI, 29 runs scored and 15 doubles through 77 contests. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:55 am

    • Perez blasts 11th home run in win Monday
Salvador Perez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Marlins.

Advice: Perez’ home run was his 11th of the season and second in the month of June. Perez has cooled off this month. He’s 11-for-70 (.157) in June with two home runs and five RBI. Perez has struck out 20 times with only eight walks in June. He was hitting .321 at the end of May, but now sits at .280 with a .814 OPS on the season. Rotoworld Monday, 7:49 pm

    • Day off Monday
Amaya is not in the starting lineup Monday against the Giants.

Advice: Amaya will take a seat after he went 1-for-3 with a strikeout in Sunday's series finale versus the Mets. Tomas Nido will take over behind the plate and bat eighth in the opener versus San Francisco. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:19 pm

    • Taking seat Monday
Fermin is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: Fermin is on the bench for the second day in a row, but his playing time could be on the upswing nonetheless while he's produced a .271/.314/.500 slash line through the first three and a half weeks of June. In addition to filling in at catcher on days that top backstop Salvador Perez gets days off behind the dish, Fermin will factor into the equation at designated hitter, where he had made two of his last three starts.
