    • Throws one rehab inning
Garcia (elbow) threw one scoreless inning in the Florida Complex League on Friday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Garcia returned to game action for the first time since May of 2023. He threw 12 pitches and averaged 92.7 mph with his fastball. Garcia is slated to make his next rehab outing in early July. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:32 am

    • Struggles in rehab outing
Marquez (elbow) allowed four earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out one batter and recording just two outs Friday in a rehab outing with Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: After making two rehab starts in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, one at Single-A Fresno and one at High-A Spokane, Marquez made his first start with the Rockies' top affiliate Friday, though things didn't go according to plan. He threw only 33 pitches in the short outing and will now require at least another rehab appearance or two to push up his workload before he's a realistic option to return from the 60-day injured list and join the big-league rotation. Marquez looks to be tracking toward a return shortly after the All-Star break, though that could change if he shows drastic improvement in his next outing with Albuquerque. • Ian Anderson (elbow) starting Sunday at Low-A
Ian Anderson (elbow) will make a minor league rehab start on Sunday for Low-A Augusta.

Advice: Anderson continues to work his way back from last April’s Tommy John surgery and figures to be an option for Atlanta’s starting rotation at some point following the All-Star break in a couple weeks. Rotoworld Saturday, 11:29 am

    • Lands on injured list
The Brewers placed Koenig on the 15-day injured list Saturday with left forearm tendinitis.

Advice: Koenig threw 1.1 scoreless innings and struck out three batters during his appearance Friday versus the Cubs, but he seems to have come away from his outing with an injury. The 30-year-old southpaw has been one of the Brewers' more surprising finds of the season, posting a 1.66 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 38 innings. Rob Zastryzny was selected from Triple-A Nashville to replenish Milwaukee's bullpen depth. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:09 am

    • Jared Koenig heads to IL with forearm tendinitis
Brewers placed LHP Jared Koenig on the 15-day injured list with left forearm tendinitis.

Advice: Koenig has been an unexpected revelation this season for Milwaukee, recording seven victories in relief to accompany a sparkling 1.66 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 36/11 K/BB ratio across 38 innings (29 appearances, five starts). No word yet on how long he’ll wind up sidelined. Rotoworld Saturday, 9:07 am

    • Josiah Gray (elbow) to make another rehab start
Josiah Gray (elbow) will make another minor league rehab start at Triple-A Rochester on Sunday before rejoining the Nationals’ rotation.

Advice: The expectation had been that Gray would return for his next start after hurling six innings of one-run ball at Triple-A Rochester his last time out. The Nationals want to make sure he’s ready to go when he does return though, so one final tune-up in the minors it will be. It’s not clear who will get bumped from the Nationals’ rotation to accommodate his return, though DJ Herz is one option, or Patrick Corbin could get shifted to the bullpen. Rotoworld Friday, 9:26 pm

    • Orioles place Corbin Burnes on paternity list
Orioles placed RHP Corbin Burnes on the paternity list.

Advice: All this meant is that the Orioles will benefit from having an extra reliever for the next two or three days. Burnes defeated the Rangers last night and isn’t slated to make his next start until Wednesday. Rotoworld Friday, 11:20 am

    • Placed on paternity leave list
The Orioles placed Burnes on the paternity leave list Friday.

Advice: Burnes will likely be away for the remainder of the series against the Rangers as he welcomes a new addition to the family. The righty started Thursday's series opener and should be back in time for his next turn, which is tentatively lined up to come next week in Seattle. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:15 am

    • Starts rehab assignment
Garcia (elbow) has been sent to the Astros' Florida Complex League affiliate to begin a rehab assignment.

Advice: It will be the first game action for Garcia since he underwent Tommy John surgery last May. The 27-year-old will need most, if not all, of his 30-day rehab window to get built up, but he could prove to be a nice boost to the Astros' rotation after the All-Star break. Garcia holds a career 3.61 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 364:112 K:BB across 352 innings. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:34 am
