    • Jared Jones completes five frames vs. Cardinals
Jared Jones struck out five and yielded one run over five innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Cardinals.

Advice: Pittsburgh continues to carefully manage their prized rookie right-hander’s workload this season as Jones was limited to just 78 pitches (52 strikes) over five innings in this one after spinning seven innings on 94 pitches his last time out against the Rays. The 22-year-old rookie sensation generated 10 swinging strikes, with eight of those coming on his slider alone, and finished with a solid 33 percent CSW. He’ll bring a strong 3.56 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 98/27 K/BB ratio across 91 innings (16 starts) into a home outing on Monday against the Mets in his penultimate start prior to the Midsummer Classic. • Set for bullpen session
Kershaw (shoulder) is expected to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kershaw was shut down from throwing last week after feeling soreness in his left shoulder following a rehab start June 19, but a subsequent MRI didn't reveal any damage, and he returned to throwing Tuesday. If his bullpen Wednesday goes well, the left-hander could resume his rehab assignment in short order. The shutdown isn't expected to make much of an impact on Kershaw's overall timeline to return to the Dodgers, though that isn't likely to happen until after the All-Star break. • Shohei Ohtani hits 27th homer in win over D-backs
Shohei Ohtani clobbered his 27th home run of the season on Tuesday night as the Dodgers rallied to defeat the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Ohtani, who told reporters afterwards that he’s unlikely to participate in the upcoming All-Star Home Run Derby, led off the home half of the first inning with a double and scored the game’s first run on an RBI double off the bat of Teoscar Hernandez. He then flipped the game in the Dodgers’ favor with a mammoth 433-foot (112.0 mph exit velocity) two-run shot off of Justin Martinez in the seventh inning that made it a 4-3 ballgame. Ohtani finished the night 3-for-5 and is now slashing an absurd .320/.402/.646 with 27 homers, 64 RBI and 16 swipes. Rotoworld Tuesday, 11:18 pm

    • Homer among three hits in win
Ohtani went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Ohtani was a triple shy of the cycle in another impressive game from atop the order. Over his last 20 games, the superstar has slugged 12 homers and driven in 23 runs while batting .351 (26-for-74). He's been outstanding all year and seems to be getting better with his recent performance. Ohtani has a .320/.402/.646 slash line with 27 long balls, 64 RBI, 69 runs scored and 16 stolen bases through 83 contests. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:09 pm

    • Allows one run in no-decision
Feltner didn't factor in the decision in Tuesday's loss to the Brewers after he gave up one run on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three.

Advice: The right-hander certainly wasn't dominant, as he generated only seven whiffs on 83 pitches. However, he limited Milwaukee to just a single tally in the second inning. Feltner has now gone at least five frames in each of his past five starts, and he has a 4.18 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB across 28 innings during that stretch. For the season, Feltner carries a 1-7 record with a 5.82 ERA in 16 outings, with his lone victory coming back in mid-April. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:40 pm
    • Ryan Feltner delivers strong start in no-decision
Ryan Feltner delivered a strong start in a no-decision against the Brewers on Tuesday, allowing one run on six hits over his five frames.

Advice: The right-hander punched out three batters on the evening while allowing a pair of walks. The lone tally against him came in the second inning on an RBI single off the bat of Sal Frelick. The Brewers then loaded the bases with two outs in the inning, but the 27-year-old hurler got Brice Turang to ground out to end the threat. Feltner generated seven swings and misses on 83 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll carry a 5.60 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and a 78/25 K/BB ratio (91 2/3 innings) into Sunday’s showdown against the Royals. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:14 pm
    • Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) set for Wednesday bullpen
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: Kershaw was shut down from throwing back in late June after experiencing soreness in his surgically-repaired left shoulder, so it’s a positive sign that he’s been cleared to resume throwing again. The 36-year-old veteran southpaw is targeting a midseason return to Los Angeles’s starting rotation and appears on track to make it back at some point in August. Rotoworld Tuesday, 5:16 pm

    • Returns to throwing
Kershaw (shoulder) has started throwing again Tuesday after experiencing shoulder soreness last week, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: After being shut down for one week due to feeling soreness in his surgically repaired shoulder, Kershaw said he was relieved an MRI didn't reveal any new damage. The southpaw added that he received some shots to help alleviate discomfort and that he is hopeful the pause in his rehab will not push his return timeline back too much. • Another rehab start Saturday
Cabrera (shoulder) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cabrera is slated to throw 80-to-85 pitches in what will likely be his final rehab start before returning from the 60-day injured list and taking back a spot in Miami's rotation. The right-hander has posted a 4.50 ERA and 15:4 K:BB over 10 innings in his first three rehab outings. Cabrera has been out since early May with a right shoulder impingement.
