    • No health concerns, but start TBD
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Thursday that the decision to push Bradish's next start back isn't related to health concerns, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Cade Povich was called up from Triple-A Norfolk to start Thursday versus the Blue Jays in what would have been Bradish's turn, but the move was designed simply to give Bradish extra rest. Hyde wasn't ready to commit to when Bradish would make his next start, however, as the Orioles haven't confirmed any of their four starters for their upcoming series with the Rays that begins Friday. Bradish could take the ball one of those days, but having his turn skipped entirely is also a possibility. The right-hander has been excellent overall since coming off the injured list in early May, but he stumbled his last time out, allowing five runs over just 2.2 innings in a no-decision against the Rays last Saturday. • Takes another step in recovery
Santos (lat) threw a limited bullpen session before Tuesday's game against the Athletics, the Associated Press reports.

Advice: The right-hander remains without a timetable for his season debut, but Santos could be looking at a post-All-Star-break return at this point considering he'll presumably need a fairly lengthy rehab assignment. Santos was a versatile relief asset for the White Sox last season while recording two wins, six holds and five saves, and once healthy, he could eventually prove to be a viable sixth- or seventh-inning option in his new Seattle digs. • Nabs second win
Garcia (2-0) picked up the win Wednesday over the Orioles, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: The right-hander needed only 10 pitches (eight strikes) to dispatch Baltimore's 6-7-8 hitters in the ninth, and Garcia got rewarded when Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the frame. Garcia has recorded a win (one), save (one) or hold (five) in seven of 10 appearances over the last month, posting a 2.53 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB in 10.2 innings during that stretch. He'll continue to serve as the Blue Jays' primary closer until Jordan Romano (elbow) returns from the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 8:32 am
    • Louie Varland working on change-up in Triple-A
According to Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic, the Twins have asked Louie Varland to focus on developing his change-up while at Triple-A.

Advice: Gleeman notes that the Twins wanted Varland to increase his changeup usage, and” he’s thrown it nearly three times as often for the Saints,” up to 23 percent overall. The pitch has been “encouraging” to the organization, and they’ve also been “working with Varland to tweak his cutter in search of more movement.” Varland has a 4.30 ERA and 39-to-10 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 37 2/3 innings since being demoted, but Gleeman notes that much of the damage against Varland has been on the pitches he’s currently working to develop, which is understandable since pitch mix changes don’t often happen quickly. While these modifications may not have a major impact for Varland’s fantasy value this season, they’re certainly positive developments. Rotoworld Today, 7:57 am

    • Set to resume throwing
Lawrence (shoulder) will throw bullpen sessions during the Rockies' upcoming road trip, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Rockies will head out for a road trip Thursday, with Lawrence accompanying the team. The activity will mark his first intense throwing since landing on the injured list. Lawrence is expected to return in mid-June. Rotowire.com Today, 7:32 am

    • Orioles send Nick Vespi to Triple-A
Orioles optioned LHP Nick Vespi to Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Vespi was called up on Monday but will be sent back to the minors to make room for Cade Povich, who is starting Thursday’s game. The 28-year-old has thrown two scoreless innings for the Orioles this season and will likely be back in the Baltimore bullpen at some point this season. Rotoworld Today, 7:30 am
    • Next outing coming Friday
Allen is listed as the Guardians' probable pitcher for Friday's game against the Marlins in Miami.

Advice: Allen had been in line to work as a primary pitcher out of the bullpen behind opener Nick Sandlin in Wednesday's game against the Royals, but that contest was ultimately postponed due to inclement weather. Whether than pushing Allen's next outing back a day to Thursday's series finale, Tanner Bibee will stay on turn in the rotation and start against Kansas City. Allen is thus set to take the hill for the series opener in Miami, and barring a late change from manager Stephen Vogt, the southpaw looks poised to handle a traditional starting role rather than working behind Sandlin. • Hit hard in Boston
Schwellenbach (0-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: It was a tough day for Schwellenbach, who allowed three runs in the second inning and another three in the fifth en route to his second loss in as many starts. The 24-year-old right-hander's now allowed nine runs through his first 9.2 innings with Atlanta after pitching to a 2.21 ERA across eight starts between High-A Rome and Double-A Mississippi. If Atlanta elects to keep Schwellenbach in the majors for another turn in the rotation, he'd currently line up for a road matchup in Baltimore early next week. Rotowire.com Today, 7:12 am
    • Sent back to minors
The Orioles optioned Vespi to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Advice: Vespi's latest stint with the big club lasted just three days, with the lefty reliever tossing a scoreless inning during his lone appearance Tuesday versus the Blue Jays. He'll cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to left-hander Cade Povich, who was called up from Norfolk to start Thursday's series finale in Toronto. Rotowire.com Today, 7:07 am
