    • Set to return to lineup Friday
Burger said that he's not dealing with any soreness or pain in his intercostal muscle, but he's out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays as a matter of caution, Noah Berger of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Advice: Burger was on the injured list from April 15 through May 6 with a left intercostal strain, and he appeared to tweak the muscle on a swing during Tuesday's 9-5 loss. He was able to stay in the game, and Burger's condition hasn't seemed to have taken a turn for the worse heading into Wednesday's series finale. However, with a team off day Thursday, both Burger and manager Skip Schumaker agreed that it was for the best for the third baseman to get a two-day break by exiting the lineup Wednesday. Burger is fully expected to be back in the starting nine Friday versus the Guardians. Rotowire.com Today, 12:58 pm

    • Jake Burger (oblique) takes day off as precaution
Jake Burger is getting Wednesday off after tweaking his oblique on a swing during Tuesday’s game.

Advice: Burger said he felt fine today and that this is just a precaution. He was sidelined from April 14 to May 5 after straining his left oblique. Expectations are that he’ll be in Friday’s lineup after the off day tomorrow. Rotoworld Today, 12:34 pm

    • Not starting, could be hurt
Burger is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: While Burger was likely overdue for a day off after making 17 consecutive starts dating back to May 15, his absence from the lineup Wednesday could be the result of an injury. As Christina De Nicola of MLB.com points out, Burger looked to have tweaked an intercostal muscle on a swing during Tuesday's 9-5 loss, though he stayed in the game after telling manager Skip Schumaker that he was fine. Burger was previously on the injured list from April 15 through May 6 with an intercostal strain, so fantasy managers will likely want to keep close tabs on his status heading into the Marlins' series versus the Guardians this weekend. • Beginning rehab assignment
Diaz (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Brooklyn on Thursday.

Advice: Diaz threw a successful bullpen session Tuesday and has now been cleared to test things out in a game setting. He is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list on June 11 when the Mets return home from London. Barring a setback, Diaz should be ready to go that day. Whether he is used as the closer right away upon his return is unclear, as Diaz's struggles prior to getting hurt had led to him sharing save chances with others. Rotowire.com Today, 11:50 am

    • Scratched due to knee issue
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Marte was scratched from the lineup prior to Wednesday's game in Washington due to a right knee issue, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Though he played all nine innings of Tuesday's 6-3 win while going 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, two runs and two RBI, Marte informed the Mets on Wednesday that his knee was bothering him at points during the previous night's game. The Mets elected to scratch Marte from the lineup for the series finale as a matter of precaution, but Mendoza said that he has a low level of concern for the outfielder's injury. Marte will still be available off the bench Wednesday, and with off days Thursday and Friday, the expectation is that he'll be back in the lineup Saturday for the start of the Mets' two-game series in London versus the Phillies. • Starling Marte has sore knee, available off bench
The Mets said Starling Marte was scratched because of a right knee issue but that he is available off the bench Wednesday.

Advice: Marte felt something in Tuesday’s game, apparently. Tyrone Taylor is playing right field today. Rotoworld Today, 11:22 am

    • Scratched from Wednesday's lineup
Marte was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals for an unspecified reason.

Advice: The Mets haven't provided an immediate explanation for why Marte was removed from the starting nine, but the team should offer an update later Wednesday. Tyrone Taylor will enter the lineup as a replacement for Marte, who had started in both of the first two games of the series in Washington while going 4-for-8 with a triple, a walk, a stolen base, four runs and two RBI. • Secures save No. 6
Sewald earned the save Tuesday against the Giants. He plunked a batter but struck out two and did not allow a hit in the ninth inning.

Advice: Sewald was presented with a save opportunity after Mike Yastrzemski made it a three-run ballgame with his home run in the eighth. He began by hitting Thairo Estrada but faced no threat after that. He has not given up a run since his first appearance of the season and has allowed just three hits total while converting all six save chances. For the year, the 34-year-old boasts an 0.96 ERA, 0.43 WHIP and 10:1 K:BB in 9.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 6:44 am
