      Duran struck out two batters in a perfect inning to earn a save over the Red Sox on Friday.

      Advice: Duran needed just 11 pitches to quickly retire the middle third of Boston's lineup in order. He's struck out three batters while grabbing a pair of saves in two appearances since returning from the injured lust. The 26-year-old posted terrific numbers last season -- 2.45 ERA and 12.1 K/9 through 62.1 innings -- and should see plenty of save chances throughout the year. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago
       
    • Brandon Marsh knocks in two in Phillies’ win
      Brandon Marsh had a two-run single and a stolen base Friday as the Phillies edged the Giants 4-3.

      Advice: Marsh is still in a little rut that’s seen him go 3-for-19 with no extra-base hits and 10 strikeouts in his last six games. He got off to a fast start last year, only to cool off in May. We suspect that he’s a better player now than he was then, but he’s probably going to remain streaky with his strikeout tendencies.       McMahon went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Pirates.

      Advice: The 29-year-old led off the sixth inning by hammering a Martin Perez changeup out of PNC Park completely and into the Allegheny River, becoming only the second Colorado player in history to accomplish the feat after Todd Helton back in 2001. Three of McMahon's five homers this year have come in the last eight games, and the power surge has boosted his slash line on the season to .319/.407/.513 with 13 runs and 19 RBI in 32 contests.     • Brady Singer whiffs eight, allows one run vs Texas
      Brady Singer struck out eight over six innings of one-run baseball against the Rangers on Friday, but didn’t factor into the decision.

      Advice: Unfortunately for Singer, Michael Lorenzen held the Royals to just one run while he was in the game. Fortunately for Singer and fans of Kansas City, they scored the next six runs, but alas, no victory. Fantasy managers do get plenty of strikeouts, however, and he lowered his ERA to 2.45 in the process. Singer will try and keep the good run going when he faces the Brewers on Wednesday.       Ryan McMahon went 2-for-5 and hit his fifth homer Friday against the Pirates.

      Advice: Both hits were against a lefty in Martín Pérez. If McMahon were on a better team, he’d probably be a platoon player at this point, as he was bad against lefties in 2022 and even worse last season.     • Amed Rosario collects three hits in win over Mets
      Amed Rosario had a nice night at the dish in Friday’s victory over the Mets, going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and two RBI.

      Advice: The 28-year-old infielder reached on an infield single to start the second inning and scored the Rays’ first run on a ground out off the bat of Jonny DeLuca. He then smacked an RBI single off of José Quintana in the third inning that gave the Rays a 4-3 lead they would never relinquish. He then came around to score on a two-run single by DeLuca. Rosario has been a bright spot in the Rays’ lineup this season, slashing a healthy .309/.327/.427 with two homers, 15 RBI and three stolen bases in his first 29 games. Rotoworld Today, 6:40 pm

    • Could join MLB rotation next week
      Javier (neck) will throw four innings or roughly 60-to-65 pitches Saturday for Double-A Corpus Christi before potentially rejoining the big-league rotation, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

      Advice: Manager Joe Espada said the hope is that Javier can rejoin Houston's rotation after this first rehab start, which would line him up to return either Thursday in New York or Friday in Detroit. He has been out since April 14 with neck discomfort. Rotowire.com Today, 2:11 pm
       
    • Could piggyback another starter
      The Phillies are considering piggybacking Turnbull with another starter, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

      Advice: Turnbull's stint in the Phillies' rotation was supposed to be temporary while Taijuan Walker (shoulder) worked his way back. However, Turnbull has pitched so well -- posting a 1.67 ERA and 36:10 K:BB in 32.1 innings -- that the club is considering ways to keep him in its rotation even with Walker back in the fold. A six-man rotation hasn't been ruled out, although manager Rob Thomson has indicated it's unlikely. More likely, it seems, is that Turnbull and another starter -- either Walker or Cristopher Sanchez -- are used in tandem, with the decision on who would start and who would be in long relief that day depending on the opposition. Turnbull could still eventually shift to the bullpen -- he hasn't thrown more than 56.2 innings in a season since 2019 -- but it doesn't sound like that's going to happen yet.       Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Javier (neck) will begin a rehab assignment over the weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Espada didn't specify exactly when Javier's first rehab appearance will be, nor did he say how long the 27-year-old right-hander will remain in the minors. However, there had been speculation that Javier would be able to avoid a rehab assignment completely, so he may only need to make one start before returning to an Astros rotation that has already dealt with numerous injuries this season.
