    • Pete Fairbanks ready to start rehab on Tuesday
      Pete Fairbanks (nerve issue) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

      Advice: The 30-year-old hurler has been out since April 22 due to a nerve-related condition that caused him difficulty in gripping the baseball. He should only need an outing or two there before he’s ready to rejoin the Rays’ bullpen. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago
       
    • Rehab assignment starting soon
      Fairbanks (arm) is set to begin a rehab stint at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reported Friday.

      Advice: Fairbanks has been dealing with a nerve issue in his throwing arm and after receiving positive results on testing done in late April, he's set to begin throwing in-game. It's unclear how long his stint in Durham will be, but once Fairbanks is back with the Rays, expect him to reclaim closing duties from Jason Adam and Garrett Cleavinger.       Torres went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Orioles.

      Advice: Torres led off the sixth inning with a 418-foot shot to center field off Keegan Akin, cutting the Yankees' deficit to 7-2. While it didn't ultimately impact the final score, the home run was certainly a weight off of Torres' shoulders -- he'd gone 32 games without a long ball to start the campaign, a homerless streak of 53 regular-season games if you go back to Torres' last home run Sept. 7.       Contreras went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Tigers.

      Advice: Contreras also struck out three times Wednesday for the third consecutive game. He'll likely be happy to put the Tigers in the rear-view mirror after going 1-for-13 with nine strikeouts during the three-game series in Detroit. That poor stretch has dropped Contreras to a .258/.373/.505 slash line on the year, and he's added five homers, 10 RBI, 14 runs scored, eight doubles and a stolen base through 110 plate appearances.       Holmes earned the save Wednesday, allowing one hit with three strikeouts over 1.2 scoreless innings against Baltimore.

      Advice: Holmes capped off an excellent game by the Yankees pitching staff, as they yielded three hits and no runs as a whole. Individually, Holmes logged three strikeouts for the first time all year and his 1.2 innings of work marked his longest outing of the campaign.       Gil (2-1) picked up the win Thursday, allowing two hits and one walk with five strikeouts over 6.1 scoreless innings against Baltimore.

      Advice: Gil rebounded from his first bad start of the season, completing six innings for the first time all season while blanking the O's. Gil has allowed three or fewer hits in all but one start this season, but has allowed 20 walks in 31 innings, leading to an overall ERA of 3.19. The 26-year-old has been a pleasant surprise in the back end of the Yankees rotation and could find himself among the elite fantasy pitchers if he can reign in his walk problem.     • Bounces back with quality start
      Musgrove didn't factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits with nine strikeouts over six innings against the Reds.

      Advice: After being tagged for seven runs and four long balls in his last start, Musgrove set a season high in strikeouts and notched his fourth quality start of the campaign. While three of the four hits did go for extra bases, including a first-inning solo homer by Spencer Steer, Musgrove was able to keep his opponent to less than three runs for the first time in four starts. Through eight starts, Musgrove owns a 2.2 HR/9 after having not allowed more than 1.1 HR/9 since 2017. He's tentatively scheduled for a start Tuesday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.       Kyle Tucker went 1-for-4 with a solo homer on Wednesday against the Guardians.

      Advice: Trailing by one run, Tucker led off the seventh inning with the game-tying homer off of Triston McKenzie. The 27-year-old star has gone deep in three of his last four games, giving him eight homers while slashing .298/.407/.570 with 21 runs scored, 21 RBI, and five steals across 136 plate appearances.     • Clay Holmes locks down five-out save against O’s
      Clay Holmes slammed the door on the Orioles on Wednesday night, getting the final five outs to preserve a two-run advantage.

      Advice: Holmes was called upon with two men on and one out in the eighth inning, and he quelled that threat by striking out Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman in succession to end the inning. He returned for the ninth where he allowed a leadoff single to Ryan O’Hearn and nothing more. The 31-year-old right-hander has been unbelievable so far this season, hurling 15 innings of scoreless baseball with a 16/1 K/BB ratio while converting 10 of his first 11 save chances. Studly.
