    • Hunter Greene goes 5 2/3 scoreless for Reds
Hunter Greene blanked the Orioles for 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision Friday.

Advice: Greene, who also pitched shutout ball last time out, lowered his ERA to 3.12. Still, the Reds are somehow 1-6 when he pitches this season, despite being 15-10 the rest of the time. Greene’s luck should even out at some point, and he seems like an every-week play in mixed leagues. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

    • Dylan Cease pitches into seventh to get fourth win
Dylan Cease allowed just a run in 6 2/3 innings against the Diamondbacks on Friday while picking up a win.

Advice: Cease was able to pick up his fourth win of the season with the victory. The right-hander picked up eight strikeouts in the process while not issuing any walks. When the 28-year-old throws strikes, he’s one of the toughest pitchers to have success against, and Friday was a good example of that. He’ll look to repeat his success against the Cubs next week. • Sharp again in no-decision
Greene did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing five hits and four walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Greene had to contend with some traffic Friday, though he'd ultimately make it through 5.2 innings unscathed. The right-hander fell an out shy of a quality start, though it's his second consecutive scoreless outing -- he blanked the Rangers over seven innings in his last start. Overall, Greene's 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 47:16 K:BB through 40.1 innings. He's tentatively lined up for a home matchup with the Diamondbacks in his next start. • Ends homer drought Friday
Cruz went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies.

Advice: The 25-year-old shortstop had gone 17 straight games without a homer coming into Friday and nearly made it 18. but he got hold of a Jalen Beeks changeup in the ninth inning to make things close for the Pirates. It was Cruz's fourth long ball of the season and his first off a southpaw, and the RBI were his first since April 22. While the performance was encouraging, he still sports a disappointing .240/.287/.364 slash line through 33 contests with three steals, nine runs and 10 RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 7:40 pm

    • Oneil Cruz hits fourth homer versus Rockies
Oneil Cruz hit a two-run homer to provide the only scoring for the Pirates against the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: Unfortunately, the Pirates were down three in the ninth at the time. To go along with his 111.7-mph homer, Cruz also had a 111-3 mph line drive, that unfortunately was hit right at the center fielder, and a 103.3-mph groundout. That makes this one of his best nights of the year. Rotoworld Today, 6:48 pm

    • Receiving Friday off
Langford is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Langford started the previous 15 games and will receive a day to reset after he posted a .542 OPS during that stretch. Travis Jankowski will bat eighth as the designated hitter Friday for Texas. Rotowire.com Today, 2:29 pm

    • Clubs fourth homer
Bell went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Rockies.

Advice: The first baseman lofted a Peter Lambert curveball over the right-field fence in the third inning, tying the game at 3-3. Bell has struggled out of the gate this season, slashing .185/.273/.306 through 33 contests with four homers, 11 RBI and 16 runs, but the streaky slugger may be heating up -- he went 4-for-12 in the three-game sweep of Colorado. • Progresses to batting practice
Suzuki (oblique) took on-field batting practice Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro and LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune report.

Advice: It's the first time he's taken BP since he suffered a right oblique strain April 14. Suzuki estimated that he's 80 percent recovered from the injury, and he could begin a rehab assignment next week if he continues trending in the right direction. A return to the Cubs' active roster by mid-May looks doable for the outfielder. Rotowire.com Today, 6:14 am

    • Gavin Williams (elbow) resumes throwing program
Gavin Williams (elbow) resumed throwing on Thursday.

Advice: Guardians manager Stephen Vogt added that Williams was re-evaluated earlier and cleared to resume throwing and is on the road back to rejoining Cleveland’s starting rotation. The 24-year-old righty was shut down from throwing last week due to renewed elbow discomfort and has been on the shelf since spring training following a couple setbacks in his rehabilitation process.
