    • Cristian Javier undergoes Tommy John surgery
The Astros announced that Cristian Javier underwent successful Tommy John surgery on Thursday.

Advice: Javier will be sidelined into the second half of 2025. The Astros still owe him $52 million from 2025-27, so he will be back with the club once healthy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:08 pm

    • Takes second loss
Assad (4-2) allowed five runs on seven hits across 5.2 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Reds. He walked two and struck out seven.

Advice: Assad flashed his skill with the seven strikeouts, which tied for his second most in a game this year, but he was ultimately done in by a three-run Elly De La Cruz home run in the third inning. The righty still has a solid 2.74 ERA and 68 strikeouts across 69 innings this season, as he's performed well in his first extended run as a full-time starter for the Cubs. Assad will attempt to bounce back in his next scheduled start, which tentatively lines up for next week against the Rays on the road. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:34 pm

    • Assad allows five in loss to Reds Thursday
Javier Assad allowed five runs in 5 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: Assad gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out seven. He was replaced by Luke Little in a 4-4 game in the sixth inning and the run that scored on TJ Friedl’s RBI double was charged to Assad. The five earned runs were the most allowed in any start by Assad this year. His ERA is now 2.74, but his xFIP is significantly higher at 3.98. The 26-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rays on the road next week. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:47 pm

    • Short outing vs. Cleveland
Singer didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Guardians, allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Singer's final line could've been much worse, as he matched a season high with nine hits allowed while failing to make it through four innings. Prior to Thursday, Singer hadn't allowed more than one earned run in five of his last six outings. Overall, the 27-year-old right-hander is 4-2 on the year with a 2.76 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 66:20 K:BB across 12 starts (65.1 innings) this season. Singer's currently in line for a home matchup with the Yankees in his next start. Rotowire.com Thursday, 2:44 pm

    • Singer allows nine hits, two runs in no-decision
Brady Singer gave up nine hits and three runs — two earned — over 3 2/3 innings in a no-decision versus the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: Singer was making his first start since being unavailable due to illness. It didn’t go particularly well, as he needed 70 pitches to get 11 outs while allowing plenty of traffic throughout the contest. The 27-year-old still has a 2.76 ERA, and he has only given up more than two earned runs twice in his dozen starts. The Yankees are next, assuming Kansas City stays on scheduled with their rotation. • Continues solid pitching as starter
Suarez allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four batters over five innings in a no-decision against Toronto on Wednesday.

Advice: Suarez remained in the rotation for a third straight start and did a good job of keeping Baltimore in the contest with five strong frames. The only damage against him came in the second inning, when he surrendered two runs -- twice as many as he had allowed in his previous two starts combined. Suarez has posted a 1.93 ERA across 14 innings since rejoining the Orioles rotation May 25. He figures to get at least one more start, and possibly more, since Dean Kremer (triceps) has not yet begun a rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:39 pm

    • Yields five runs
Taillon allowed five runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings in a no-decision versus the White Sox.

Advice: Taillon gave up a leadoff home run to Corey Julks and then surrendered four more runs in the fourth inning. The Cubs were able to cover the damage for Taillon, allowing him to escape with a third straight no-decision. The right-hander has given up at least three runs in his last four starts and now has a 3.47 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 35:13 K:BB over 49.1 innings through nine outings on the year. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Rays. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:17 pm
    • Albert Suarez solid for five in no-decision
Albert Suárez pitched five innings of two-run ball Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Suárez was uninvolved in the decision after exiting a 2-2 game. He’s made six starts for the Orioles this year, and while he hasn’t completed six innings in any of them, he’s allowed more than two runs just once. He’ll definitely be tested next week, as he’s due to make home starts against the Braves and Phillies. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:18 pm

    • Jameson Taillon surrenders five runs vs. White Sox
Jameson Taillon allowed five runs with six strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Taillon served up a solo homer to Corey Julks to start the game in the first inning. He worked through a pair of scoreless inning before the White Sox brought four more runs in to score in the fourth on six base hits. Taillon would remain to toss one more frame, ending his day after five innings at 75 pitches. The 32-year-old right-hander will carry a 3.47 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and a 35/13 K/BB ratio across 49 1/3 innings into a start against the Rays in Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:12 pm
