• Sitting against lefty
Stott isn't in the Phillies' lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Stott will take a seat as southpaw Jose Quintana prepares to start on the mound for New York. Whit Merrifield will fill the void at second base and bat seventh. Rotowire.com Today, 12:02 pm

  • Angels send Niko Goodrum to minors
Angels optioned INF/OF Niko Goodrum to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: Goodrum played in four games for the Angels, going 0-for-13 with four strikeouts and two walks. With Luis Rengifo coming off the IL, Goodrum will head to the minors to provide the organization with valuable positional depth. Rotoworld Today, 10:38 am

  • Angels activate Luis Rengifo for Friday return
Angels activated INF/OF Luis Rengifo from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The Angels tried to keep Rengifo on the active roster, but after he missed five games, they decided to put him on the injured list last Thursday. A week later, he’s returning to the fold and should likely remain an everyday player for the Angels given how banged up their lineup is. Niko Goodrum was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Today, 10:35 am

  • Sent to Triple-A
The Angels optioned Goodrum to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

Advice: Goodrum was claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay last Thursday, and he went 0-for-13 in four games with the Angels. He will now return to the minors, making room for Luis Rengifo's (illness) return from the injured list. It's possible Goodrum returns later this year if the Angels continue to struggle with infield depth, but he has proven to be an offensive liability throughout his seven-year career in MLB. • Activated from injured list
The Angels activated Rengifo (illness) from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Rengifo missed the last week and a half with a viral illness which resulted in painful blisters on his feet. He's recovered now, though, and should be back in the lineup when the Angels return to action Friday in Texas against the Rangers. The super utility player is slashing .330/.378/.462 with two home runs and nine stolen bases over 28 contests this season. Rotowire.com Today, 10:27 am

  • Homers in Wednesday's loss
Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 7-2 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Goldschmidt is on a five-game hitting streak, having gone 7-for-23 (.304) with two homers and four RBI in that span. The burst of offense has doubled his homer total for the year to four, and he's up to 15 RBI, 20 runs scored, two stolen bases and three doubles while slashing .206/.291/.300 across 41 contests. Goldschmidt sat out a game just prior to his current streak, so it appears the mental reset is paying off in the short term, though his counting stats are unlikely to improve much if the team around him doesn't collectively start hitting better. • Rehab assignment on tap Friday
LeMahieu (foot) is in line to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Friday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

Advice: LeMahieu has already joined Somerset, but he will first go through a full workout Thursday and, assuming that goes off without a hitch, will begin playing in games Friday. The veteran infielder had to have his initial rehab assignment last month halted after just one inning due to ongoing issues with his right foot, but he's now ready to try again. Since he's missed so much time, the expectation is that LeMahieu will probably need at least a handful of rehab games before rejoining the Yankees' active roster. Rotowire.com Today, 9:18 am

  • Records third steal Wednesday
Raley went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Raley delivered a timely single in the eighth inning that plated pinch runner Leonardo Rivas, extending the Mariners' lead back to two runs after Bobby Witt had brought the Royals within one in the top half of the frame. Raley's multi-hit effort was an extension of a torrid stretch at the plate for the offseason addition, one that's seen him generate a .435 average and 1.219 OPS over the last seven games. • Jose Miranda not in the lineup on Thursday
Jose Miranda is not in the Twins lineup on Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: Willi Castro will shift from center field to third base and Manuel Margot will get the start in center and bat eighth in the order. Miranda had been playing regularly, but he’s now sat in two of the last four games as he’s gone 10-for-39 (.256) in 11 games in May with no home runs, six strikeouts, and two walks. He’s likely not losing his job, but he’s also not forcing his way into the lineup every day, and on a team that likes to platoon as much as the Twins do, that could be an issue.
