    • Héctor Neris earns win with scoreless ninth
Héctor Neris struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the win against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Neris took the mound in the ninth inning of a tie game against the White Sox. He struck out the first two batters and worked around a walk to send it to the bottom of the inning before Mike Tauchman walked it off with a home run to give Neris the win. The 34-year-old right-hander is up to six wins and eight saves with a 2.74 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and a 20/17 K/BB ratio across 23 innings. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:13 pm

    • Carlos Rodón strikes out nine in win over Twins
Carlos Rodón was terrific in Wednesday’s victory over the Twins, piling up nine strikeouts over six innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw scattered just three hits on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He kept the Twins’ offense at bat completely through the first five frames until Carlos Santana slugged a solo homer in the sixth inning. The Twins also scratched out a run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Carlos Correa later in the inning. Rodón generated 18 swings and misses on 100 pitches on the night — eight of those on his heater — while posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. Now 8-2 on the season, Rodón will attempt to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 3.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a 71/20 K/BB ratio (73 innings) into Monday’s tilt against the Royals in Kansas City. • Beginning rehab assignment
Diaz (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Brooklyn on Thursday.

Advice: Diaz threw a successful bullpen session Tuesday and has now been cleared to test things out in a game setting. He is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list on June 11 when the Mets return home from London. Barring a setback, Diaz should be ready to go that day. Whether he is used as the closer right away upon his return is unclear, as Diaz's struggles prior to getting hurt had led to him sharing save chances with others. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:50 am

    • Red Sox place Chris Martin on IL with anxiety
Red Sox placed RHP Chris Martin on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 2, due to anxiety.

Advice: It was reported that Martin was dealing with a shoulder issue, but that might not actually have been the case. The Red Sox will likely turn to Justin Slaten as their top right-handed setup man while Martin is absent. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:42 am

    • Goes on 15-day IL
The Red Sox placed Martin on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with anxiety.

Advice: Martin will be eligible for activation June 17, but it's uncertain as to whether he will be ready to return at that time. The setup man has collected a 4.22 ERA and 24:2 K:BB over 21.1 innings this season. Zack Kelly was called up from Triple-A Worcester to take Martin's spot in the Red Sox's bullpen. • Notches another save Tuesday
Neris worked around a walk to toss a scoreless ninth inning and record the save in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Neris ceded a one-out walk, then watched pinch runner Duke Ellis swipe second. However, the veteran reliever picked off Ellis to shut down any chance of a rally by the White Sox. Neris now has eight saves in 10 chances this season to go with a solid 2.86 ERA. He's earned a little job security as the Cubs' closer given his strong play, particularly with Opening Day closer Adbert Alzolay (forearm) on the 60-day IL. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:45 pm

    • Snares another win
Burnes (6-2) picked up the win Tuesday against Toronto, allowing one run on four hits and one walk across seven innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The lone run against Burnes came on a George Springer solo homer in the seventh frame. Burnes hasn't allowed more than three runs in a start this season and has logged eight straight quality starts. On the year, Burnes owns a 2.25 ERA with 76 strikeouts across 79.2 innings and is tied for the league lead in quality starts. Burnes is scheduled for a road start against the Rays on Sunday. • Bound for IL
The Red Sox will place Martin on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to an unspecified issue, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: The Red Sox had attempted to place Martin on the injured list Tuesday, but MLB was unable to process the transaction before the beginning of Boston's game versus Atlanta. The team hasn't provided an updated diagnosis for the right-hander, but more information will come Wednesday once the move becomes official. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:10 pm

    • Cora: Chris Martin heading to IL on Wednesday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters late Tuesday that Chris Martin is headed to the injured list.

Advice: Cora added that the Red Sox tried to place Martin on the injured list ahead of Tuesday’s game, but the transaction didn’t make it to the league office in time. It sounds like the move will be made official prior to Wednesday’s game. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:55 pm
