    • Nestor Cortes strikes out six White Sox in win
Nestor Cortes worked seven innings without allowing an earned run in the Yankees 4-2 win over the White Sox on Friday. He struck out six, walked one, allowed five hits, and earned the win.

Advice: This was the fourth time this season that Cortes has completed at least seven innings. He’s been a reliable, steadying force in the Yankees’ rotation and looks to have bounced back fully after a poor 2023. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

    • Scheduled for rehab assignment
Maeda (illness) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Maeda has been dealing with a viral illness that landed him on the IL on May 11. He began throwing off the mound Wednesday, and he'll make a rehab start with Triple-A Toledo on Sunday. Barring any setback, that would put Maeda in line to return for May 24 against the Blue Jays. The 36-year-old right-hander is 1-1 over seven starts this season with a 6.75 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 23:10 K:BB over 30.2 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 4:30 pm

    • Kenta Maeda (illness) to make rehab start Sunday
Kenta Maeda (illness) will make a minor league rehab start at Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Advice: It remains unclear whether or not he’ll require any additional rehab outings after that first one to get back into the swing of things. Maeda has been disastrous in his first season with the Tigers so far, posting a 6.75 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 23/10 K/BB ratio across 30 2/3 innings through his first seven starts. • Collects third win
Jones (3-4) picked up the win over the Cubs on Thursday, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out seven over six innings.

Advice: Jones allowed hits in four of his six innings of work, including a solo homer off the bat of Ian Happ to lead off the second. However, the right-hander still managed to log his third consecutive quality start while also posting at least seven strikeouts for the seventh time in nine outings this season. Jones produced 15 swings and misses on the night, though his seven hits allowed marked a season high. He's won just two of his last six decisions despite carrying a 2.89 ERA on the campaign. • Jones with another quality start Thursday
Jared Jones allowed three earned runs, struck out seven in six innings and picked up the win in the Pirates’ 5-4 victory against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: Jones was top notch once again and earned his third win of the season. He induced 15 whiffs and had a 29 percent CSW on the night. His ERA is 2.89 on the season. Jones is pretty easily a top 20 starting pitcher for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old right-hander is set to face the Giants at home in his next start.

    • Fans nine in no-decision
Pfaadt came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Reds, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out nine.

Advice: The right-hander generated 30 called or swinging strikes on 93 pitches in one of his best performances of the season, and his only real mistake resulted in a Santiago Espinal solo shot in the fifth inning. Pfaadt extended his quality start streak to four with the effort, a stretch in which he's posted a 3.24 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 24:4 K:BB through 25 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, but he'll face a tough test on the road early next week against the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:09 am
    • Taking steps toward return
Pepiot (leg) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and is likely to throw a simulated game in the near future, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The exact next steps for Pepiot are unclear, but he is on the road with the team and is still aiming to return after a minimum term on the 15-day injured list. If he can reach that goal, he would line up to start at some point during the Rays' homestand next week against the Red Sox and Royals. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:55 pm

    • Blanks Twins for six innings
Stroman (3-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Twins, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out two over six shutout innings.

Advice: This was Stroman's second scoreless start of the season, as well as his third quality start. He entered Wednesday with nine runs allowed over his previous 15 innings across a three-start winless skid. The right-hander trimmed his ERA to 3.33 with a 1.42 WHIP and 42:25 K:BB over 48.2 innings through nine starts this season. Stroman's 4.6 BB/9 remains a concern -- it's by far the worst of his career, though his 7.8 K/9 is in line with his career norms. Stroman is projected to make his next start at home versus the Mariners. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:25 pm

    • Marcus Stroman twirls six scoreless innings
Marcus Stroman held the Twins scoreless across six innings on Wednesday earning the win. He allowed two hits, walked three, and struck out two.

Advice: Stroman wasn’t particularly sharp in this one with just two strikeouts and three walks. The Twins also had 10 hard hit balls, seven of which were hit in the air, but they couldn’t sustain any type of rally. But that’s what happens when the Yankees play the Twins, with a 119-43 record in their last 162 games against Minnesota. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:22 pm
