      Alvarado got the save in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Giants, allowing a solo home run while also striking out a batter in the ninth inning.

      Advice: Alvarado served up a one-out solo blast to Jakson Reetz that pulled the Giants to within a run but was able to recoup with a strikeout and line out to end the game.     • José Alvarado gives up homer, closes out Giants
      José Alvarado served up a solo homer in the ninth inning on Sunday night, but was still able to close out the Giants to protect a one-run lead and secure his seventh save of the season.

      Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw gave up a one-out solo blast to Jakson Reetz that pulled the Giants to within a run, but he battled back to strike out Nick Ahmed and got Jung Hoo Lee on a fly ball to right field to end it. He has now recorded seven of the team’s 12 total saves on the season while registering a 4.30 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 15/7 K/BB ratio across his 14 2/3 frames. Rotoworld Sunday, 7:11 pm
       
    • James McArthur blows save in ninth, loses in 10th
      James McArthur took a blown save and a loss after allowing two runs — one earned — between the ninth and 10th innings Sunday against the Rangers.

      Advice: McArthur blew the save by giving up a game-tying homer to Jonah Heim in the ninth. In spite of that, the Royals stuck with him in the 10th. He allowed only the automatic runner to score, but the Royals couldn’t let him off the hook from there. It’s not the kind of outing that will reflect particularly badly on him.     • Blown save, loss versus Texas
      McArthur (1-1) blew a save and picked up the loss after he pitched two innings, surrendering two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out three batters in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning defeat to the Rangers.

      Advice: McArthur entered the game with the Royals up 2-1 in the top of the ninth inning and gave up a game-tying solo home run to Jonah Heim with one out in the inning. He later returned for the top of the 10th frame, allowing the inherited runner to score on an RBI single by Nathaniel Lowe. The blown save was McArthur's second in nine total save opportunities this season, and he currently possesses a 2.87 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 18 strikeouts over 15.2 innings in 13 appearances this season.       Blanco allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out six during a win over Seattle.

      Advice: All the damage against Blanco came via the long ball, with Jorge Polanco going deep in the third inning followed by Dylan Moore in the fifth. Entering Friday's start, Blanco had given up just two homers through 32.2 frames. It was the first time this season he's allowed more than two runs in an outing but he still produced his fifth quality start. Blanco owns a terrific 2.09 ERA with a 36:16 K:BB.       Alvarado earned the save in Friday's 4-3 win over the Giants, allowing a hit while logging a strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.

      Advice: Alvarado allowed a leadoff single before setting down the next three Giants, closing out the one-run victory for his sixth save of the season. After giving up five runs in his first outing of the year, Alvarado's allowed just one run in his subsequent 13 innings.     • Ronel Blanco allows three over six against Seattle
      Ronel Blanco was charged for three runs over six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Mariners.

      Advice: He gave up five hits while walking three and striking out six. Blanco gave up a pair of homers Friday, one of them being a solo shot by Jorge Polanco and the other a two-run homer by Dylan Moore. The right-hander exited with a 3-1 deficit, but the Astros were able to score four after he left to keep him off the hook.     • José Alvarado notched sixth save for Phillies
      José Alvarado threw a scoreless ninth in a one-run game for his sixth save Friday against the Giants.

      Advice: Alvarado gave up five runs on Opening Day and remained wild for a spell after that, but he’s walked just one in his last nine appearances and given up one run in 14 appearances. He’s recorded six of the Phillies’ 11 saves for the year, and he could maintain something close to that ratio going forward. Rotoworld Friday, 7:46 pm
       
    • Stuck with loss Tuesday
      Lopez (2-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Mariners, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings.

      Advice: Lopez struck out the side to begin his night en route to tying his season-high in strikeouts. He pitched well overall, but there was not much he could do with Atlanta not scoring until the eighth inning. His one costly mistake came in the third after allowing a two-run blast to Jorge Polanco and the Mariners would tack on a third run in the fourth, which proved to be the deciding run in the game. Tuesday was the first time Lopez had failed to pitch at least six innings and surrender more than a run. He's now given up a home run in back-to-back outings. Still, the 30-year-old has been nothing short of spectacular through the first month, posting a 1.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB in 30 innings.
