    • Espada: Cristian Javier to return this weekend
Cristian Javier (neck) will return this weekend to start against the Tigers.

Advice: Astros manager Joe Espada confirmed what was being widely speculated that Javier would return to Houston’s injury-plagued starting rotation mix after making a minor league rehab start on Saturday for Double-A Corpus Christi. The 27-year-old righty might need some time to knock off the rust, but there likely won’t be any workload restrictions after throwing 68 pitches in his lone rehab outing. • Receiving first day off
Ward is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Advice: Ward started the first 35 games of the season but has a .602 OPS over his past 10 contests and will take a seat Tuesday. Kevin Pillar will start in left field and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Today, 12:31 pm

    • Marlins send A.J. Puk on rehab assignment
Marlins sent A.J. Puk (shoulder) on a rehab assignment to Single-A Jupiter.

Advice: The 29-year-old will get another rehab start as he works to get back from a shoulder injury. Puk struck out two batters over an inning of work in the Florida Complex League and will continue to get relief innings with the team deciding to use Puk as a bullpen arm rather than a starter. He’ll need a few more outings at the minor league level before he gets back to Miami’s active roster. Rotoworld Today, 11:09 am

    • Taking seat against southpaw
Cruz is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Angels.

Advice: The left-handed hitting Cruz was in the lineup each of the previous two times the Pirates faced a southpaw, but he will begin Tuesday's game on the bench as the Angels send lefty Patrick Sandoval to the hill. Alika Williams will occupy shortstop and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 11:00 am

    • Notches first steal
Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base Monday in a 6-3 victory versus the Cubs.

Advice: Cronenworth's first theft of the campaign came as part of a double steal with Fernando Tatis in the sixth inning, and both players subsequently came home on a Jurickson Profar single. Cronenworth doesn't typically offer much in terms of speed, though he did swipe a career-high six bags last season. The first baseman is working on a 10-game hitting streak during which he has slashed .357/.378/.690 with three homers, 10 RBI and seven runs. Rotowire.com Today, 9:57 am

    • Swipes bag Monday
Tatis went 1-for-5 with a run and a stolen base in Monday's 6-3 win against the Cubs.

Advice: Tatis helped generate San Diego's first run, reaching on a leadoff single in the sixth inning, advancing to second on another single, then taking part in a double steal with Jake Cronenworth before both players scored on a Jurickson Profar hit. Tatis has been somewhat quiet at the plate this season, but he's still been moderately productive with a .248/.327/.442 slash line, seven homers, 20 RBI, 28 runs and five stolen bases through 168 plate appearances. He's gone 7-for-23 with a homer, a steal, six runs and three RBI through the first five games of May. Rotowire.com Today, 9:47 am
    • Solid in no-decision
McKenzie didn't factor into the decision Monday against Detroit, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six.

Advice: McKenzie settled in nicely after allowing a solo home run to Riley Greene on his first pitch of the day, striking out three straight to close out the first and keeping the Tigers from adding on more runs. He's now allowed two or fewer runs and struck out at least six batters in four consecutive starts, bringing his ERA to 3.97 through 34 innings. However, McKenzie still appears to have the training wheels on after missing most of the 2023 season with elbow and shoulder injuries, as he's been kept under 85 pitches in five of his seven starts this year. McKenzie is tentatively scheduled to face the White Sox in Chicago on Saturday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:05 pm
    • Clubs ninth homer
Schwarber went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Monday's 6-1 win over San Francisco.

Advice: Schwarber belted the long ball in the eighth inning off Tyler Rogers, giving the Phillies an additional run of cushion heading into the ninth. Schwarber also reached base in the fifth inning on a single and was driven in on a Bryce Harper homer. Over his last 10 games, Schwarber is 11-for-42 (.262) with 11 runs scored and nine RBI. • Cole Ragans fans eight versus Brewers Monday
Cole Ragans yielded two earned runs on two hits over six innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: It was another stellar outing from Ragans, who now has allowed just four earned runs in his past three starts. The only damage against him came off a Gary Sanchez two-run home run. The 26-year-old southpaw has recorded at least eight punch outs in back-to-back games. After allowing seven earned runs to Baltimore on April 20, Ragans has looked sharp and is a must-start for fantasy managers throughout the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:27 pm
