    • Kirby Yates whiffs three in save against Dodgers
Kirby Yates struck out three in a scoreless ninth to get a save against the Dodgers on Thursday.

Advice: Yates did allow a walk, but this was a much better effort than the one he had Wednesday when he picked up a save but was fortunate to not blow the opportunity. The right-hander has been outstanding for the overwhelming majority of 2024, and this scoreless outing gives him a 1.11 ERA along with 10 saves. He isn’t giving up this closing gig. Not anytime soon, anyway. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago
    • Michael Lorenzen limits Dodgers to one over seven
Michael Lorenzen held the Dodgers to just a run while firing seven innings to get a win Thursday.

Advice: Lorenzen allowed just a solo homer to Andy Pages. The right-handed hurler wasn’t dominant with just two strikeouts, but he wasn’t challenged often while allowing four hits with one walk. Lorenzen has mostly been solid when available for the Rangers, and this outing lowers his ERA to 2.86. He gets the Mets on Tuesday, if Texas doesn’t make adjustments to the rotation. • Michael Kopech blows save, gets win
Michael Kopech blew a save but picked up a win while allowing a run over an inning of work against the Mariners on Thursday.

Advice: Kopech gets the win despite allowing a game-tying homer to Julio Rodriguez with two outs in the ninth. The win stat has zero flaws and anyone who suggests otherwise is providing falsehoods. Kopech continues to show the stuff to miss bats, but the command leaves way too much to be desired to completely trust. Rotoworld Today, 9:23 pm

    • Garrett Crochet weaves gem with 13 strikeouts
Garrett Crochet struck out 13 batters over seven innings of one-run baseball but didn’t pick up a decision Thursday against the Mariners.

Advice: Crochet was absolutely dominant while taking advantage of a team that strikes out at an enormous rate, so the results are equally impressive and not surprising. He did allow a solo homer to Tyler Locklear, but outside of that and a Victor Robles double, it was smooth sailing for the 24-year-old. The 13 punchouts are a season-high, but this is a hurler who has already fanned 116 batters in just-under 83 innings with a 3.16 ERA. Crochet is an absolute must-start regardless of opponent, and he gets the Astros on Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 9:23 pm

    • First hold since return
Poche didn't allow a baserunner while throwing a scoreless eighth inning to earn a hold Thursday against the Cubs.

Advice: Thursday's outing marked Poche's fourth outing since being activated from the injured list. He has only two strikeouts while issuing two free passes across four innings in that span, though he has yet to surrender an earned run. Poche will remain in a high-leverage role, but he isn't likely to factor significantly into the saves picture for the Rays barring injury to Pete Fairbanks. Rotowire.com Today, 8:23 pm

    • Struggles in loss
Leiter (2-4) allowed three runs on three hits and a walk while retiring just two batters to take the loss Thursday against the Rays. He struck out one.

Advice: Chicago starter Justin Steele tossed six scoreless innings but his effort was quickly wasted by Leiter, who couldn't get out of the seventh. The righty has allowed runs in each of his last two relief appearances, which has pushed his ERA up from 3.20 to 4.44. Leiter had a sub-4.00 ERA each of the last two seasons for the Cubs, so while he's struggled some lately, his track record suggests that better days will be ahead. He will also likely stick in a high-leverage role as he attempts to get back on track. Rotowire.com Today, 7:46 pm
    • Medina allows four runs in loss to Twins Thursday
Luis Medina allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss against the Twins on Thursday.

Advice: Medina gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out three. He’s 0-2 with a 5.87 ERA in three starts with Oakland this year. Medina is off the fantasy radar. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals at home next week.

    • Earns win Thursday
Miller (4-4) allowed a run on one hit across 1.1 innings of relief but managed to earn the win Thursday against the Nationals.

Advice: Miller was charged with his fifth blown save of the season but he picked up the win when the Tigers scored five times in the bottom of the seventh inning. The veteran righty has been mostly solid this season, compiling a 3.80 ERA and 20 strikeouts across 21.1 innings. Miller would have more fantasy value if he was seeing regular save opportunities, though he has some appeal in deeper formats given his high-leverage role. Rotowire.com Today, 7:33 pm
