      Heliot Ramos blasted a three-run homer on Thursday in the Giants’ loss to the Cardinals at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

      Advice: Ramos put San Francisco on the board with a no-doubter to right field in the third inning off Cardinals starter Andre Pallante for his 10th round-tripper of the season. The 24-year-old post-hype prospect has put together a pretty remarkable breakout campaign so far, batting .307 (46-for-150) with 10 homers, 35 RBI and one steal through 39 games.       Gil (9-2) was hit with the loss against the Orioles on Thursday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings.

      Advice: Gil struggled out of the gate, surrendering a leadoff double to open the contest before then eventually allowing one run in the first. However, things would get much worse for the right-hander in the following frame as he failed to retire nine of the next 10 batters he faced, leading to his shortest outing of the campaign. Gil gave up a season-high seven runs on the afternoon and failed to make it through six innings for the third-consecutive start. It also marked his first loss since April 15 against Toronto.       Luis Gil allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Orioles on Thursday.

      Advice: Gil gave up eight hits, walked two and struck out one. He was due to have a bad start. Gil entered the game with a .194 BABIP allowed and 83 percent left on base percentage.       Advice: Herrera's back evidently locked up on him sometime around his arrival at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala. It partly explains why he's not in the lineup, although Pedro Pages has been the Cardinals' preferred option at catcher lately, anyway. At this point, Herrera should be considered day-to-day.
