    Arenado (forearm) will start at third base and bat sixth in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus Atlanta.

    Advice: Arenado had been set to return Tuesday from a left forearm injury before that game was rained out and he remains in the lineup for the makeup game. The six spot represents the lowest Arenado has hit in his four seasons with the Cardinals. He is slashing just .257/.315/.371 on the season and hasn't homered since June 5.   • Fades late in Tuesday's win
    Keller (9-4) picked up the win in Tuesday's 9-5 victory over the Reds, giving up four runs (three runs) on six hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

    Advice: An Oneil Cruz error and a hit by pitch helped load the bases in the third inning, but Keller escaped the jam by striking out Jeimer Candelario and Spencer Steer. The right-hander seemed to run out of gas after that, eventually getting tagged for three runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth as he fell short of his 10th quality start of the season. Keller has still allowed more than three earned runs only once in nine outings since the beginning of May, going 7-1 over that stretch with a 1.85 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 52:12 K:BB through 58.1 innings.     Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 4-3 win versus the White Sox.

    Advice: The Dodgers' designated hitter crushed Chris Flexen's fifth pitch of the game 376 feet for a leadoff homer. Ohtani has now batted atop the order eight consecutive games while hitting .419 (13-for-31) with five homers, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored. The Japanese superstar may be on his way to a third MVP campaign as he's slashing .318/.395/.626 with 24 homers, 63 runs scored, 60 RBI and 16 steals over 356 plate appearances this season. Ohtani’s homer extended his RBI streak to nine games, which ties the Dodgers’ single-season record.     Vinnie Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Marlins.

    Advice: Pasquantino singled in the first inning to score Maikel Garcia from third after Garcia walked to kick off the inning and subsequently stole two bases. It would be the only run the Royals would score on the night as they found themselves in a pitching duel between Yonny Chirinos and Seth Lugo.   • Mitch Keller escapes with win over Reds
    Mitch Keller allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits in 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Reds on Tuesday.

    Advice: Keller struck out six and walked three on the day; however, he got just eight whiffs on 48 swings for a 17 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW. Keller’s command was good in this one, which led to 22 called strikes and helped him get through without the most dynamic stuff. He’ll look for a smoother ride against the Cardinals next time out.     Carpenter (back) took swings off a tee Monday and participated in throwing/running drills Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

    Advice: The 26-year-old was shut down in late May due to a lumbar spine stress fracture, but he's now back to taking part in baseball activities. Carpenter still has significant rehab work to do before being ready for game action, and he'll likely require a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining the Tigers.
