• Logan Webb completes six innings to defeat Astros
Logan Webb yielded three runs over six innings on Wednesday in a win over the Astros.

Advice: Webb limited Houston’s formidable, yet injury-depleted, lineup to just a fourth-inning RBI single by Jeremy Peña before Yordan Alvarez clobbered a two-run homer a couple frames later. Still, he was good enough to outduel Astros ace Framber Valdez at Oracle Park in this one. The 27-year-old workhorse will bring a strong 3.02 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 78/20 K/BB ratio across 92 1/3 innings (15 starts) into a road tilt on Tuesday against the Cubs at historic Wrigley Field. • Willy Adames powers Brewers to win over Blue Jays
Willy Adames slugged a gargantuan two-run homer on Wednesday, powering the Brewers to a 5-4 victory over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Adames followed teammate Christian Yelich’s go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning with a colossal 446-foot moonshot to straightaway center field off Toronto southpaw reliever Tim Mayza. The 28-year-old shortstop has homered twice in his last three contests and is up to 11 round-trippers on the year, which puts him on pace to threaten his previous career-high mark of 31 big flies that he set back in 2022. • Gaining traction in lineup
Chourio will start in left field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Chourio will stick in the lineup for the fifth game in a row, with three of his starts coming against right-handed pitching during that stretch. The rookie went 4-for-13 with a home run, a double and two walks over his previous four starts, and his recent surge at the plate could be enough for him to unseat the lefty-hitting Jake Bauers as a regular in the lineup versus right-handed pitching. Bauers is in the lineup Wednesday against Toronto righty Chris Bassitt, but he was on the bench for two of the Brewers' previous three matchups with right-handers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:16 am
  • Homers in blowout win
Smith went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's 15-2 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Smith got off to a quick start by taking Dane Dunning deep in the first inning to put the Dodgers up 3-0. He'd wind up reaching base three more times before all was said and done and racked up his seventh game of at least three hits this year. Smith has eight hits and six RBI in seven games so far this month. He's now slashing .296/.364/.509 with 10 homers, 42 RBI, 35 runs and a 23:38 BB:K in 247 plate appearances and is trending toward a second-career All-Star appearance this summer. • Will Smith goes 3-for-4, hits three-run homer
Will Smith went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk Tuesday as the Dodgers crushed the Rangers 14-2.

Advice: Smith started the game off right, hitting his homer in the bottom of the first. He later settled for a measly single when the Dodgers exploded for four homers and seven runs against Grant Anderson in the sixth inning; Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Teoscar Hernández and Jason Heyward all went deep then. Smith is batting .296/.364/.509 with 10 homers, and he should be an easy choice to go to a second All-Star Game this summer. Rotoworld Tuesday, 11:24 pm

  • Rocked by Yankees
Singer (4-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and a walk across 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Singer was in trouble from the start, allowing a triple to Anthony Volpe on just his second pitch of the day as part of a two-run first inning for the Yankees. Singer had more issues in the fourth, when Austin Wells launched a three-run home run to plate Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres to give New York a 6-0 lead. The 27-year-old's seven runs allowed marked a season high and he failed to complete six innings for the fifth time in his last six starts. He'll have another tough draw for his next start, with a road matchup with Dodgers set for Sunday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:08 pm

  • Battling illness
Manager Bob Melvin said after Tuesday's game that Hicks has been sick for the past several days, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: While Hicks' illness didn't prevent him from starting Tuesday, it did play a factor in his removal after just 4.2 innings and caused his velocity to be down a tick. The 27-year-old righty allowed three earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five batters, and he was hit with his third loss of the year. Assuming he's able to shake off his illness, Hicks is lined up to start again on the road Monday against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:38 pm

  • Jordan Hicks lifted in fifth versus Astros
Jordan Hicks yielded three runs in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Astros.

Advice: Hicks didn’t have his usual velocity tonight, averaging 93.0 mph with his sinker. That’s down 1.9 mph from his season average and 3.2 mph from his start six days ago. Last time this happened, it was blamed on an illness, and Hicks’ velocity returned to normal his next time out. We’ll have to wait and see what the reasoning is this time. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:26 pm

  • Singer allows six earned runs in loss to Yankees
Brady Singer allowed six earned runs over 5 2/3 innings while striking out six in Tuesday’s loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Singer gave up two runs in the first inning, but it was a four-run fourth that caused most of the damage. Gleyber Torres singled in the fourth to drive in Alex Verdugo, but a three-run homer by Alex Wells on the ensuing at-bat put this one well out of reach. Singer has allowed five or more runs in just two of his 13 outings this season and will look to rebound in his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:58 pm
