• Swats solo shot Monday
Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk in Monday's 8-4 victory against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Smith padded the Dodgers' lead in the sixth inning with a 407-foot solo blast to center field. It was the backstop's second long ball in three games after he went deep just once over his first 23 contests of the campaign. Though he's been pretty quiet in the power department thus far, Smith is having an outstanding start to the season, slashing .363/.404/.539 with 22 RBI and 16 runs through 114 plate appearances. • Nick Castellanos goes 0-for-4 in loss to Angels
Nick Castellanos went 0-for-4 in the loss to the Angels on Monday.

Advice: While Castellanos’s track record certainly suggests that he will hit, this has been awfully ugly; he’s batting just .173/.242/.218 through 120 plate appearances. The only players with worse OPSs currently qualified for the batting title are rookie second basemen (Colt Keith and Enmanuel Valdez). Castellanos has always been worse than most in recognizing which pitches to swing at, but his natural talent at putting bat to ball has made up for it. That could be changing at age 32, and the Phillies might have to consider an upgrade in right field at some point. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:21 pm
  • Drives in three runs
Bohm went 1-for-3 with three RBI and a walk in Monday's loss to the Angels.

Advice: Bohm knocked a two-run single in the first inning and added an RBI sacrifice fly in the ninth. He's been an RBI machine this season, racking up 10 over his last six games, giving him 29 on the year. He trails only Atlanta's Marcell Ozuna on the RBI leaderboard. Bohm is slashing .364/.439/.607 with 17 extra-base knocks and a 15:19 BB:K through 30 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:27 pm

  • Expected back Tuesday
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that he expects Marte (personal) to be activated from the bereavement list Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Marte missed the final two games of the Mets' weekend series against the Cardinals and remains unavailable Monday versus the Cubs, but his return to the team looks to be imminent. Tyrone Taylor will draw a third straight start in the outfield Monday but will move back to a bench role once Marte is activated. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:26 pm

  • Goes on paternity leave
The Yankees placed Verdugo (personal) on the paternity list Monday.

Advice: While he leaves the team to celebrate the birth of his child, Verdugo won't be available for Monday's series opener in Baltimore, and he'll most likely remain away for games Tuesday and Wednesday before he would need to be activated ahead of Thursday's series finale versus the Orioles. The Yankees are scheduled to face right-handed starting pitchers for each of their next three games, so left-handed-hitting outfielders Trent Grisham and Taylor Trammell could represent logical replacements in the lineup for Verdugo. • Yankees place Alex Verdugo on paternity list
Yankees placed OF Alex Verdugo on the paternity list.

Advice: Carlos Narváez has been called up and will take his spot on the active roster for now. Verdugo can be away from the club for 24-72 hours while on the paternity list. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:40 am

  • Churns out another multi-hit game
Bohm went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored Sunday in the Phillies' 8-6 win over the Padres.

Advice: Recently elevated into the cleanup spot, Bohm has stayed on a heater at the plate to give the Phillies little reason to think about moving him down in the order. He's now turned in multi-hit efforts in eight of his last 10 games, batting .548 during that stretch to lift his season-long average up to .365, trailing only Mookie Betts (.387) and Will Smith (.367) for tops among qualified hitters. • Homers, collects three hits
Mountcastle went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Mountcastle had gone just 1-for-12 over his last three games but collected three hits including his fourth homer. Mountcastle's performance lifted his average to .319 with four homers and 14 RBI. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:24 pm

  • Mountcastle, has three hits, HR vs A’s
Ryan Mountcastle went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in a loss to the A’s on Sunday.

Advice: The home run was a 424-foot shot off Paul Blackburn that left the bat at 108.7 mph. It was Mountcastle’s fourth home run on the season, and he’s now slashing .319/.379/.527 on the season with 14 RBI. He gets lost in the shuffle with the Orioles’ having truckloads of talented young prospects, but Mountcastle has been one of their better hitters to start the season and needs to be started in all leagues for now.
