• Misses lineup
Polanco (hamstring) isn't in the Mariners lineup Friday at Baltimore.

Advice: Polanco will miss a third straight game with right hamstring soreness. Once again, Josh Rojas will slide to second base while Luis Urias starts at third. Rotowire.com Today, 1:13 pm

  • Still hoping to avoid injured list
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Friday that Hoerner (hamstring) remains day-to-day and is still hopeful of avoiding the injured list, Ryan Herrera of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hoerner is missing a fourth straight start Friday after still feeling something in his left hamstring Thursday, per Counsell. While the skipper expressed hope that an IL won't be needed, he conceded that a move will be on the table if the issue continues to linger. With Dansby Swanson (knee) also out, the Cubs have been going with Miles Mastrobuoni and Nick Madrigal as their middle infield duo. Rotowire.com Today, 11:37 am

  • Remains out with hamstring issue
Hoerner (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Pirates.

Advice: It's the fourth straight game Hoerner has been out of the lineup due to tightness in his left hamstring. A stint on the injured list would seem to be a distinct possibility at this point given how much time Hoerner has missed, although there's been no indication from the Cubs yet that a move is coming. Miles Mastrobuoni and Nick Madrigal will again be tasked with middle infield duties for Chicago. Rotowire.com Today, 8:34 am

  • Takes live batting practice
Swanson (knee) took live batting practice Friday, Ryan Herrera of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Swanson landed on the 10-day injured list a week ago with a right knee injury. He'll be eligible for activation Saturday, but while it appears he is making progress, it seems unlikely that he will be ready at that time. With Nico Hoerner (hamstring) also banged up, the Cubs' shortstop depth has thinned, and Miles Mastrobuoni has started the last three games. Rotowire.com Today, 8:27 am

  • Remains out Thursday
Hoerner (hamstring) isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Hoerner was scratched from the lineup before Tuesday's game versus Atlanta due to tightness in his left hamstring, and it will now keep him from starting for the third game in a row. Nick Madrigal will cover second base Thursday while Miles Mastrobuoni starts at shortstop. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:42 pm

  • Nico Hoerner (hamstring) out Thursday vs. Pirates
Nico Hoerner (hamstring) remains absent from the lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Pirates.

Advice: Hoerner will miss his third consecutive contest due to left hamstring tightness, but there’s been zero indication that he’s in jeopardy of requiring a trip to the injured list. There should be some clarity on his status at some point in the coming days, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:40 pm

  • Sharp in first win
Woo (1-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Royals, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The right-hander pounded the zone, firing 60 of his 79 pitches for strikes, but after five scoreless innings Woo ran out of gas in the sixth and left the mound with runners on the corners and one out, clinging to a 2-1 lead. Gabe Speier was able to escape the jam, however, and the Seattle bullpen took care of the rest. Woo has been impressive in two starts since making his belated season debut, giving up just one run in 9.2 innings with an 8:2 K:BB, but he faces a tough test in his next outing -- a road start at Yankee Stadium early next week. • Notches second save
Sewald worked a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his second save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Reds.

Advice: The right-hander needed only eight pitches (four strikes) to get the job done. Sewald has been his usual effective self since making his season debut May 7, giving up just one run with a 4:1 K:BB in his first four innings, and he has a firm hold on the closer role for Arizona. • Continues strong offensive stretch
Doyle went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk Wednesday in an 8-0 victory against San Diego.

Advice: Doyle's second-inning solo shot put Colorado on the board, and he crossed the plate again in the third following a one-out walk. The center fielder has reached base safely in eight straight contests and is batting .333 (9-for-27) with two homers, five RBI, nine runs and four stolen bases over that stretch. He still has a problematic 27.9 percent strikeout rate on the campaign, but it's been a more-tolerable 21.4 percent during the eight-game span. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:37 pm
