      Eovaldi (groin) will throw a bullpen session Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

      Advice: Friday will mark the first time Eovaldi has thrown off a mound since being diagnosed with a right groin strain May 3. He's eligible to return from the IL on Saturday, but considering the right-hander is just now resuming mound work, he may still be a week or two from returning to Texas' rotation.       Santander (knee) is in the starting lineup as the designated hitter for Friday's matchup against the Mariners.

      Advice: Santander hurt his knee in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays after first colliding with the outfield wall and then hitting it again during a slide, which led to his exit from the game. After striking out Josh Lowe to start off the inning, Jansen yielded a walk, two singles and a sacrifice fly to consecutive batters as the Rays took a 7-5 advantage and the eventual win.       Advice: Ward jumped on a four-seamer from Nick Robertson in the bottom of the seventh and sent it into the stands in left field for a leadoff home run, giving the outfielder his first long ball this month and his eighth overall on the season.       Freddie Freeman went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a walk against the Giants on Wednesday.

      Advice: Freeman drew a walk in the third inning, then knocked a base hit in the fifth. He reached for a third time with a single to lead off the eighth and came around to score on a single and a sacrifice fly.     • Joe Musgrove (triceps) could start on Sunday
      Joe Musgrove (triceps) is hopeful he’ll return from the injured list to start on Sunday against the Braves.

      Advice: That’s certainly surprising. Musgrove landed on the injured list on May 5 due to triceps tendinitis and hasn’t really done much except play catch since then. You would think that he would need to ramp back up a bit and require a minor league rehab start before jumping right back into the swing of things — and perhaps he may — but this sounds like he’s much closer to a return than most had anticipated.       Kopech walked two and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his fifth save of the season in a 2-0 win over the Nationals.

      Advice: After working a scoreless frame in the nightcap of Tuesday's doubleheader in a non-save situation, Kopech was called upon again and labored through 33 pitches (20 strikes) before finally getting the job done. The last time the right-hander pitched on back-to-back days, he got the next four days off, so Kopech could be unavailable at least until the weekend.
