    • Christopher Morel swats three-run homer in loss
Christopher Morel connected on a three-run homer Thursday in an extra-inning loss to the Mets.

Advice: Morel extended the Cubs’ lead to 4-0 in the fifth with a three-run blast off Adrian Houser. The second-year infielder has gone deep five times, and he’s now up to 17 RBI over Chicago’s 32 games. It’s nice to see some offensive success again, as Morel has scuffled as of late to drop his line to .209/.287/.383. Rotoworld Today, 2:11 pm

    • Nathan Eovaldi exits start due to groin tightness
Nathan Eovaldi was removed from Thursday’s start against the Nationals due to right groin tightness.

Advice: Eovaldi will continue to undergo further evaluation, including an MRI on Friday following an early exit from Thursday afternoon’s showdown with a trainer after 92 pitches through 5 2/3 scoreless frames. The 34-year-old righty finished with eight strikeouts and only issued a pair of walks. He was unlikely to work much further into the contest, but the fact that he’s dealing with a groin issue certainly puts his next start in serious jeopardy. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days. Rotoworld Today, 1:19 pm

    • Exits with groin injury
Eovaldi was removed from his start Thursday against the Nationals with right groin tightness, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Eovaldi didn't look comfortable on the mound after making a pitch in the sixth inning, prompting a visit from the Rangers' training staff and his eventual removal. The severity of the veteran righty's injury remains unknown, but the team may provide more information after Thursday's game. Eovaldi threw 5.1 shutout innings while striking out eight batters before his early exit. Rotowire.com Today, 1:06 pm

    • Could return next week
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Pivetta (elbow) could rejoin the rotation next week during the team's May 7-8 series in Atlanta, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Pivetta is slated to make a rehab start with Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, and it appearance that will be the lone appearance before he rejoins the Red Sox' rotation. The right-hander has been on the shelf since early April with a right elbow flexor strain. Pivetta was excellent before getting hurt, allowing just one run with a 13:1 K:BB over 11 frames in his first two starts. Rotowire.com Today, 10:43 am

    • Three hits in extra-inning win
Kwan went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double and two RBI in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Astros.

Advice: Kwan's RBI triple in the fifth inning gave the Guardians a 2-0 lead, and he plated the decisive run with a double in the 10th. He ended up a home run short of the cycle in Wednesday's strong performance. The leadoff hitter has gone 11-for-28 (.393) during his seven-game hitting streak, and he's slashing an excellent .360/.403/.512 with three homers, 11 RBI, 27 runs scored, three stolen bases, six doubles and two triples over 29 contests this season. • Gets rest for day game
Diaz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: He'll get a well-deserved breather Thursday after starting at catcher or designated hitter in each of the Rockies' last nine games. Jacob Stallings will replace Diaz behind the dish. Rotowire.com Today, 6:23 am

    • Clubs solo homer
Steer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base during Wednesday's 6-2 loss to San Diego.

Advice: Steer advanced to a perfect 8-for-8 on steal attempts this season and belted his fourth home run of the campaign -- and his first since April 6 -- off of Joe Musgrove in the first inning. He's cooled off since going on a tear to open the season and is batting 5-for-40 (.125) with four RBi and three runs scored during his last 11 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:37 pm

    • Bounces back with quality start
Musgrove didn't factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits with nine strikeouts over six innings against the Reds.

Advice: After being tagged for seven runs and four long balls in his last start, Musgrove set a season high in strikeouts and notched his fourth quality start of the campaign. While three of the four hits did go for extra bases, including a first-inning solo homer by Spencer Steer, Musgrove was able to keep his opponent to less than three runs for the first time in four starts. Through eight starts, Musgrove owns a 2.2 HR/9 after having not allowed more than 1.1 HR/9 since 2017. He's tentatively scheduled for a start Tuesday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. • Steven Kwan drives in game-winning run vs. Astros
Steven Kwan went 3-for-5 with a triple, double, and two RBI in a 3-2 win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Advice: After knocking a base hit in the first inning, Kwan drove in a run with a triple in the fifth. He came through in a big spot in the tenth, driving in the go-ahead run with a double. Kwan capped off his day with a game-ending diving catch in the bottom of the inning. The 26-year-old outfielder is slashing .360/.403/.512 with three homers, 27 runs scored, 11 RBI, and three steals across 134 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:03 pm
