The right-hander said it feels similar to an injury that cost him two weeks last season.   • Rays place Zach Eflin on IL with back injury
    Rays placed RHP Zach Eflin (lower back inflammation) on the 15-day injured list.

    Advice: Eflin had a shaky start on Saturday, allowing four runs over six innings against the Blue Jays. Perhaps his back was an issue then. The Rays made his IL designation retroactive to Sunday, but he will still miss at least two starts as he recovers. The 30-year-old has a 4.12 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 44/4 K/BB ratio across 59 innings but it’s unclear who will take his spot in the rotation, but perhaps the Rays will opt to bring Ryan Pepiot back from his leg injury without a rehab assignment.
