• Rings up ninth save
Miller recorded his ninth save in Tuesday's win over the Rockies, striking out the side in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Miller mowed through the trio of Jordan Beck, Charlie Blackmon and Ezequiel Tovar on 16 pitches, retiring each on swinging strikes to close out the one-run win. It was Miller's first save opportunity since April 30, as well as his 15th straight scoreless appearance. The flamethrowing right-hander hasn't allowed so much as a single since April 25 as well, and his trio of strikeouts Tuesday pushed his K/9 and swinging strikeout rate figures to an astounding 18.1 and 23.7 percent, respectively, across 20.1 innings. • Quality start Tuesday
Brooks did not factor into the decision in the Athletics' win over the Rockies on Tuesday, allowing three earned runs on six hits and a walk over six innings. He also hit a batter and struck out three.

Advice: The three runs off the journeyman right-hander came off home runs, as Ryan McMahon tagged him for a two-run shot in the first before Ezequiel Tovar slugged one of his two round-trippers on the night in the fifth. Otherwise, Brooks turned in a smooth, efficient outing, one that saw him get through his six frames on just 85 pitches. The 34-year-old has been a pleasant surprise with consecutive quality starts since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on May 15, and with Paul Blackburn (foot), Alex Wood (shoulder) and Joe Boyle (back) all on the injured list, Brooks lines up for another turn Sunday at home against the Astros, a team he held to three runs over seven frames in his season debut last Wednesday. • Bullpen spoils win Tuesday
Quantrill did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Athletics, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings.

Advice: Quantrill surrendered a third inning home run to JD Davis and later allowed the A's to scratch across an additional run in the sixth after JJ Bleday tripled before scoring on a wild pitch. Quantrill was in line for a fourth consecutive win after exiting the contest but that eventually spoiled after the bullpen coughed up three runs between the seventh and eighth innings. The 29-year-old nearly matched his season-high in strikeouts. His strikeout rate this season is up to 18.6 percent, which is a significant improvement from 13.1 last year. Quantrill now owns a 3.59 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB in 57.2 innings and faces a tough test ahead of him against the Phillies over the weekend. Rotowire.com 32 minutes ago
  • Shaky in no-decision
Perez came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Giants, giving up four runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: The veteran southpaw threw only 56 of 98 pitches for strikes, but an Oneil Cruz error in the first inning helped soften the blow to Perez's ERA. He's completed six innings only once in his last seven starts, posting a 6.37 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 29:12 K:BB through 35.1 innings over that stretch, but Pittsburgh doesn't have many healthy alternatives for its rotation right now. Perez will try to turn things around in his next outing, which lines up to come at home this weekend against Atlanta. Rotowire.com Today, 7:42 am

  • Settles for quality start Tuesday
Webb came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Pirates, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander delivered his third straight quality start and eighth of 2024 on 103 pitches (72 strikes), and Webb left the mound in line for his fifth win of the year only to watch Camilo Doval blow his first save of the season in the ninth inning. Webb will take a 3.03 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 53:18 K:BB through 65.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend against the Mets. Rotowire.com Today, 7:29 am
  • Awarded second start
Spence is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Rockies in Oakland.

Advice: He'll be making his second straight turn through Oakland's injury-depleted rotation. After working mostly as a long reliever for the first seven weeks of the season, Spence was already fairly stretched out for his first MLB start last Friday in Kansas City. He tossed 4.2 innings (77 pitches) and took a loss to the Royals while striking out four and giving up one earned run on five hits and one walk. The Athletics should give Spence a longer leash Wednesday if he pitches as efficiently against the Rockies as he did in his 4.2 innings in Kansas City. Rotowire.com Today, 7:29 am

  • Mauled by Minnesota
Corbin (1-5) took the loss Tuesday as the Nationals were routed 10-0 by the Twins, surrendering eight runs on nine hits -- including three home runs -- and three walks over six innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Minnesota hung two runs on the veteran southpaw in four separate innings, and Corbin was taken deep twice by Byron Buxton and once by Jose Miranda while also serving up extra-base hits to Carlos Santana and Carlos Correa. It's the first time since March 30 that Corbin has been tagged for multiple homers, but he wasn't having much success when keeping the ball in the park, either. He'll carry a 6.29 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 32:21 K:BB through 54.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come early next week in Atlanta. Rotowire.com Today, 7:24 am
  • Blanks Nats for third win
Ryan (3-3) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing three hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings in a 10-0 rout of the Nationals. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander didn't let a baserunner get past second base as he delivered his seventh quality start of the season in 10 trips to the mound. Tuesday's outing was also the first time in 2024 that Ryan had issued multiple free passes. He'll take a 3.15 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 64:9 K:BB through 60 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Royals. Rotowire.com Today, 7:15 am

  • Early exit in no-decision
Rogers came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Brewers, giving up four runs on six hits and four walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: The lefty threw only 53 of 90 pitches for strikes before leaving the mound, and his final line could have been a lot worse -- Owen Miller and Christian Yelich were thrown out at home in consecutive innings, and Milwaukee stranded runners in scoring position in every frame Rogers pitched. It's the third time in four May starts he's failed to complete four innings, and he's saddled with a 10.05 ERA, 2.58 WHIP and 14:11 K:BB through 14.1 innings on the month. Rogers will look to turn things around in his next outing, which is scheduled to come early next week in San Diego. Rotowire.com Today, 7:06 am
