    • Rebounds for eighth save
Diaz earned the save in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Padres, logging a strikeout and a walk in a scoreless inning.

Advice: After issuing a leadoff walk to Jurickson Profar in the ninth, Diaz struck out Manny Machado before inducing a game-ending double play off the bat of Jake Cronenworth to close out the shutout victory. It's an encouraging bounce-back effort from Diaz, who'd allowed five runs (four earned) in his previous three appearances (2.1 innings) while taking a pair of losses and a blown save. The 27-year-old right-hander still sports a subpar 6.62 ERA with a 1.64 WHIP and 18:14 K:BB across 17.2 innings while going eight for 10 in save opportunities this season. • Alexis Díaz notches save in win over Padres
Alexis Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 2-0 win over the Padres on Tuesday.

Advice: Díaz walked one and struck out one and then induced a game-ending double play. The save was his eighth of the season in what has been a tough year for Diaz. The 27-year-old has a 6.62 ERA and has blown two saves. The good news is that he’s not allowing lots of hard contact, but the bad news is that his command has wavered, leading to an increased walk rate and a huge reduction in his swinging strike rate. If the Reds had another good option at the back end of games, Díaz might be in a bit more jeopardy of losing his job. Rotoworld Today, 6:57 pm

    • Takes loss in extra frame
Diaz (1-3) took the loss in 10 innings Sunday against the Dodgers, allowing an unearned run on one hit and a walk over an inning of work. He also struck out a batter.

Advice: Diaz struck out Jason Heyward in the ninth to send the game into an extra frame. He was an out away from getting through the 10th, but Shohei Ohtani laced a base hit to right that scored Heyward to end the game. Diaz has now given up five total runs on four hits over his last 2.1 innings, which has also come with two losses and a blown save. He's given up nine runs in 4.2 innings in May. Despite the struggles, manager David Bell has not made any public comments about a possible closer change, suggesting Diaz's job is save for now. He now owns a 7.02 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 17:13 K:BB in 16.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:50 am

    • Earns unconventional save
Romano picked up a save Sunday against Tampa Bay, striking out the only batter he faced during the 5-2 win.

Advice: Romano was pushed into the save chance after Zach Pop surrendered a two-run home run and then gave up a single to Richie Palacios with two outs in the ninth. Romano got Jonny DeLuca to go down swinging to close out the victory and notch his seventh save of the campaign. Across 11.0 innings, Romano owns a 4.91 ERA with one blown save and a 10:3 K:BB. • Lands six-out save
Garrett earned the save Sunday against Miami, allowing one hit and no walks with four strikeouts over two scoreless innings.

Advice: Garrett took the ball in the eighth with the Mets leading 4-3 and, after striking out the side and getting four runs of support, stayed out to complete the ninth. It's unclear if Garrett would still have gotten the save chance if New York didn't extend its lead, but he's still a candidate for saves moving forward with Edwin Diaz moving out of the closer role temporarily to get back on track. • Converts 10th save
Bednar walked one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Bednar took the loss in Saturday's game versus the Cubs, but he bounced back with a scoreless inning for his 10th save of the season. The right-hander has given up three runs on seven hits and three walks over 8.1 innings in May, but he also has five saves in nine appearances this month. Overall, he's at a 7.85 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 21:6 K:BB through 18.1 innings, though he's settled down after a brutal April. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:21 pm

    • David Bednar slams door on Cubs on Sunday
David Bednar slammed the door on the Cubs in the ninth inning on Sunday afternoon, preserving a one-run lead to earn his 10th save of the season.

Advice: It hasn’t always been easy for Bednar this season, but he has been much better of late and made things look easy on Sunday. He got Christopher Morel on a pop out to shortstop and Ian Happ on a pop out to third base to start the inning before issuing a two-out walk to Michael Busch. Not to worry though, as he battled back to retire Patrick Wisdom to end it. Bednar will look to further improve upon his bloated 7.85 ERA his next time out. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:07 pm

    • Reed Garrett with two-inning save
Reed Garrett struck out four Marlins and allowed one hit in two innings to close out the Mets’ 7-3 win on Sunday. The save was his second of the season.

Advice: Garrett has been lights out this season for the Mets and one of their most important players, let alone relievers. His strikeout rate is still hovering around an otherworldly 40% and Edwin Díaz’s disastrous week means Garrett is likely in line for some more save opportunities moving forward. • Jordan Romano nails down seventh save
Jordan Romano struck out the only batter he faced on Sunday to earn the save.

Advice: Romano came on for the last out of the game after Zach Pop allowed a two-run homer to Isaac Paredes and closed the door. Strikeouts have lagged for Romano since returning from the IL and his hold on the closer role could become shaky with Yimi Garcia’s breakout. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:42 pm
