    • Pete Fairbanks exits after comebacker hits hand
      Pete Fairbanks left Tuesday’s game in the ninth inning after taking a comebacker off his hand.

      Advice: Fairbanks tried some warmup pitches afterwards, but the decision was made to remove him. Hopefully, this will just be a day-to-day injury. Phil Maton replaced him in a tie game. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:48 pm
       
    • Andrés Muñoz locks down save in win
      Andrés Muñoz pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings to lock down the Mariners’ 8-5 win over the Guardians on Tuesday.

      Advice: The Mariners brought Muñoz in with the bases loaded with one out in the eighth inning and the Mariners up by four runs. He got a groundout which allowed one run to score but then induced another groundout to end the threat. The 25-year-old has battled through back injuries all season but still has a 1.47 ERA and now has 13 saves. The biggest threat to his value appears to simply be that the Mariners have no problem bringing him in before the ninth inning which will sometimes prevent him from earning saves.     • Yankees transfer Clarke Schmidt to 60-day IL
      Yankees transferred RHP Clarke Schmidt to the 60-dau injured list.

      Advice: Nothing has changed regarding Schmidt’s return timetable as the procedural move merely opens up a spot on New York’s 40-man roster. The 28-year-old righty has been on the shelf since late May recovering from a right lat strain and is first-eligible to return on July 26. Rotoworld Tuesday, 3:16 pm
       
    • Moves to 60-day IL
      The Yankees transferred Schmidt (lat) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.

      Advice: The Yankees announced Schmidt would be shut down from throwing for 4-to-6 weeks once they placed him on the IL on May 30, so his move to the 60-day IL hardly comes as a surprise. He'll be eligible for activation July 26, but a better idea of his return timeline will have to wait until he's been cleared to throw again. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:15 pm
       
    • Fans six in no-decision
      Fried allowed a run on four hits and three walks over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out six during the win over Detroit.

      Advice: Fried worked five scoreless frames until the Tigers finally broke through with a run in the sixth inning. He wasn't very efficient Monday, throwing 60 of 103 pitches for strikes while failing to complete six innings for the second straight outing. Fried dropped his ERA to 3.11 with a 76:27 K:BB through 84 innings. He's currently in line for a tough road matchup with the Yankees this weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:18 pm
       
    • Fried allows one run in no-decision
      Max Fried allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Braves’ 2-1 victory over the Tigers on Monday.



      Advice: Fried gave up four hits, walked three and struck out six. He left the game with two on and one out in the sixth inning, but Jesse Chavez escaped the jam without further damage. It was a solid start for Fried, though the Braves couldn’t provide him with any run support while he was in the game. He continues to have a nice season as he lowered his ERA to 3.11 with the effort. The 30-year-old left-hander is set to face the Yankees on the road this weekend.

    • Making rehab start Wednesday
      Padres manager Mike Shildt said that Darvish (groin) will make a rehab start Wednesday with High-A Fort Wayne, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: The upcoming rehab start will take a potential return from the 15-day injured list off the table this week, but Darvish shouldn't need more than one tune-up outing in the minors before slotting back into the San Diego rotation. Darvish previously bypassed a rehab assignment when he was on the IL earlier this season due to neck tightness, but the Padres will act more cautiously with the right-hander this time around while he works his way back from a left groin strain that has thus far kept him out for three weeks.     • Yu Darvish (groin) set for rehab start Wednesday
      The Padres will have Yu Darvish make a rehab start with high-A Fort Wayne on Wednesday.

      Advice: If that goes well, he’ll probably jump right back into the major league rotation at the beginning of next week. Darvish has been out since May 29 with a groin strain. Adam Mazur presumably will make one more start for the Padres this week. Rotoworld Monday, 2:14 pm

      Phillips picked up the save Sunday against Kansas City, allowing one walk with no strikeouts across a scoreless ninth inning.

      Advice: Phillips corralled his second save since being reinstated from the 15-day IL on May 31, increasing his season total to 10 saves. The 29-year-old hasn't allowed a hit in three of his four appearances in June but was tagged for three runs in a June 6 outing against the Pirates.
