    • Serving as opener Wednesday
Miller will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old rookie will be making his first big-league start. Miller hasn't recorded more than four outs in any of his 13 relief appearances this season, so he's unlikely to cover more than an inning or two before turning the game over to the bullpen. Right-hander Daulton Jefferies was called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday and is expected to serve as the Giants' primary pitcher out of the bullpen once Miller exits the contest. • Cranks two more homers
Adames went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs and four RBI in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Rays.

Advice: Adames extended the Brewers' lead to 3-0 with a solo shot off Zach Eflin in the sixth inning before breaking the game open with a three-run blast off Erasmo Ramirez in the seventh. Adames now has three homers and eight RBI in his last two contests after going 16 games without a long ball. Overall, the 28-year-old shortstop is slashing .278/.373/.496 with six homers, 21 RBI, 18 runs scored and four steals through 30 games this season. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

    • Red Sox place Masataka Yoshida on 10-day IL
Red Sox placed OF Masataka Yoshida on the 10-day injured list with a left hand injury.

Advice: The 30-year-old was held out of Tuesday’s lineup with the injury and is going to miss at least a couple of weeks while recovering. No word yet on the corresponding move, but it sounds like Dominic Smith’s deal could be finalized before first pitch on Wednesday and he could jump right onto the active roster. • Astros recall Trey Cabbage from Triple-A
Astros recalled OF Trey Cabbage from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Advice: As anticipated, Cabbage will take the roster spot vacated by the recently-demoted Jose Abreu. The 26-year-old outfielder was off to a nice start at Triple-A Sugar Land — slashing .271/.440/.486 with three homers, nine RBI, seven stolen bases and a 29/21 K/BB ratio over 91 plate appearances. He could be an interesting fantasy option in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues if he works his way into regular playing time with the Astros. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago

    • Heading back to Triple-A
The Giants optioned Roupp to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

Advice: He'll give up his spot on the 26-man active roster for right-hander Daulton Jefferies, who was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move and is expected to serve as the primary pitcher out of the bullpen in Wednesday's game against the Red Sox. Following his call-up from Sacramento last Wednesday, Roupp made two relief appearances for the Giants and gave up three earned runs over 3.1 innings. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

    • Availability still in question
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said he's not sure whether Kimbrel (back) will be available to pitch Wednesday versus the Yankees, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: Hyde said something similar prior to Tuesday's game and Kimbrel did not appear in that contest. It's possible the skipper is just practicing some gamesmanship here so that the Yankees have less information to work with, but either way it doesn't sound like there will be clarification prior to Wednesday's game. If Kimbrel is indeed unavailable again, Yennier Cano and Danny Coulombe are candidates for saves. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

    • Called up, will be primary pitcher
The Giants recalled Jefferies from Triple-A Sacramento prior to Wednesday's game against the Red Sox in Boston.

Advice: Left-hander Erik Miller is slated to open the game for the Giants, but he's unlikely to work more than an inning or two before turning the game over to the bullpen. According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Jefferies is expected to cover the bulk of the innings out of the bullpen as he makes his first appearance for the Giants since giving up five earned runs over two innings in a spot start back on March 31 in San Diego. The Giants optioned Landen Roupp to Triple-A to clear room on the 26-man active roster for Jefferies. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago
    • Giants recall Daulton Jefferies from Triple-A
Giants recalled RHP Daulton Jefferies from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Jefferies is expected to see bulk innings out of the Giants’ bullpen on Wednesday evening against the Red Sox. HE was knocked around his last time out for the big league club, surrendering nine runs (five earned) in just two innings of work. Landen Roupp was optioned to Triple-A to free up a spot on their active roster. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago
    • Shuts down Tampa
Rea (3-0) earned the win Wednesday over Tampa Bay, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out five over six scoreless innings.

Advice: It was a strong bounce-back effort from Rea after he allowed five runs on three homers against the Yankees in his last outing. Overall, it's been a strong start to the year for the 33-year-old right-hander. Rea's held opponents to one run or fewer in four of his six starts, lowering his ERA to 2.67 with a 1.22 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB over 33.2 innings. Rea's currently on track for a road matchup with Kansas City in his next outing. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago
