• Swipes bag in loss
Hoerner went 2-for-4 with a walk, one stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Giants.

Advice: Hoerner hasn't hit all that well in June (.194), but he's logged six steals over 19 contests this month. The infielder is up to 12 thefts on 14 attempts for the season, providing speed atop the Cubs' lineup. He's added a .241/.331/.327 slash line with two home runs, 18 RBI, 36 runs scored, 14 doubles and a triple over 70 contests. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:08 pm

  • Available to pinch hit Monday
Drury (illness) went through a workout before Monday's game against the Athletics and will be available off the bench, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Drury has been held out of the lineup since Saturday due to an upper respiratory virus, but he's close to returning to the starting lineup. Michael Stefanic draws the start at second base Monday with Drury available off the bench. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:33 pm

  • Taking seat against lefty
Lopez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Lopez and fellow left-handed hitters Gavin Sheets and Andrew Benintendi will hit the bench as the White Sox go with an all-right-handed-hitting lineup versus Dodgers southpaw James Paxton. Danny Mendick will replace Lopez at second base and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:29 pm

  • Playing time trending upward
Espinal will start at third base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Espinal will occupy third base for the fifth time in six games, with three of those starts coming against right-handers. For the second time during that stretch, Espinal will take aim at Pirates lefty Bailey Falter, who takes the hill for the Pirates on Monday. Espinal will carry a five-game hitting streak into Monday's contest, and he could end up handling a near-everyday role in the Cincinnati infield until the team elects to reinstate Noelvi Marte (suspension) to the big-league roster. Marte's 80-game suspension comes to an end Thursday, but he's struggled during his rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville and could be optioned if the Reds prefer to hand Espinal regular playing time. • Draws third straight start
Urias will start at third base and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Urias looks to be gaining traction in Baltimore's everyday lineup, as he'll pick up his third straight start Monday and fifth start in six games. The uptick in playing time has corresponded with Urias' surge at the plate; dating back to May 27, he's slashing .293/.349/.517 over a stretch of 19 games. Jorge Mateo looks to be the primary loser from a playing-time perspective from Urias' uptick in starts, as he'll hit the bench Monday for the third time in five games. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:50 am

  • Beginning to lose playing time
Mateo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Mateo appeared to have settled into an everyday role at the keystone around mid-June, but the Orioles may now be viewing him as more of a part-time player. He'll take a seat for the third time in five games, with Mateo's absence in the lineup opening up a starting spot in the infield for Ramon Urias. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:46 am

  • Picks up fifth steal
Gorman went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Giants.

Advice: Gorman got aboard on a fielder's choice and picked up a steal for the second game in a row. The second baseman has gone 0-for-9 with a hit-by-pitch and two sacrifice flies over his last three contests. He's gone 17 games without a multi-hit effort, batting a poor .078 (5-for-64) in that span, though two of those hits have been homers. The slump has him down to a .194/.272/.421 slash line with 16 home runs, 36 RBI, five steals and 31 runs scored across 70 contests. Gorman's struggled to hit for average over his three years in the majors, and a career-worst 35.9 percent strikeout rate isn't doing him any favors in 2024. Rotowire.com Sunday, 11:33 pm

  • Homers twice versus Cleveland
Horwitz went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs, two walks and three runs scored in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Horwitz walked and came around to score on a home run from Vladimir Guerrero in the top of the first. Horwitz later added two long balls of his own, taking Triston McKenzie deep for a solo shot in the third before adding another blast off reliever Darren McCaughan in the fifth. After going without a homer for in his first 12 games this season, the 26-year-old notched his first pair Sunday. On the season, Horwitz is now batting .366 with two home runs, five RBI and six runs scored over 41 at-bats in 13 contests. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:31 pm
  • Spencer Horwitz smacks two homers
Spencer Horwitz went 2-for-3 with two home runs, two walks, two RBI, and three runs scored on Sunday against the Guardians.

Advice: Horwitz had his best game of the season in this one. The two homers were each hit at least 102.9 MPH and great to see, but his ninth inning walk against Emmanuel Clase was especially impressive. He fought off seven pitches on his way to a 12-pitch at-bat as the tying run off one of the best relievers in baseball. The Blue Jays continue to show their faith in him too as he’s hit either first or second in every game he’s started since being called up. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:35 pm
