• Rangers place Austin Pruitt (knee) on 15-day IL
Rangers placed RHP Austin Pruitt on the 15-day injured list with a right meniscus injury.

Advice: No word from the Rangers yet on the severity of the injury, or how long Pruitt may be sidelined for. Grant Anderson was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move to take his place in the club’s bullpen. Pruitt had registered a 12.46 ERA, 2.54 WHIP and a 1/3 K/BB ratio over 4 1/3 innings in four appearances with the big league club. Rotoworld 5 minutes ago

  • Back in majors
The Rangers recalled Anderson from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Anderson has allowed four earned runs across two innings in the majors this season, and he'll now return to Texas with Austin Pruitt (knee) headed to the injured list. The 26-year-old right-hander figures to work exclusively in low-leverage situations while with the Rangers. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • J.P. Crawford scratched from lineup on Wednesday
J.P. Crawford was scratched from the Mariners’ starting lineup on Wednesday due to right oblique soreness.

Advice: The 29-year-old shortstop was in the team’s initial lineup, but he was pulled after being a full participant in pregame workouts. The severity of the injury is not yet known, but oblique injuries are notoriously tricky and almost always wind up requiring a trip to the injured list. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Another rehab outing on tap
Duran (oblique) is scheduled for a second rehab appearance with Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: According to Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com, the right-hander averaged 98.1 mph with his fastball -- down a couple ticks from the usual triple digits -- and surrendered two runs on four hits over one inning during Tuesday's rehab outing, but he felt fine physically during and after the appearance. Duran said he dealt with some mechanical issues during spring training that affected his velocity, and it's possible those problems flared up again. It's unclear how many rehab outings the Twins are looking for, but the 26-year-old could return within the next week if he continues to progress with no issues. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago

  • Two-run double in win
Nootbaar went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Wednesday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Nootbaar doubled in his final at-bat of the contest to send home Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt, giving the Cardinals a 4-1 lead. It was only the left fielder's fourth multi-base hit of the season, though he's now driven in two runs in two of his last three games. Nootbaar has also hit safely in six of his last seven contests, but is still yet to put together a multi-hit performance. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago

  • Scratched Wednesday
Crawford was scratched from the Mariners' lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Rangers due to right oblique soreness.

Advice: The severity of Crawford's injury remains unknown, but it's apparently enough to keep him from starting in Wednesday's contest. Dylan Moore will enter the lineup as Seattle's new shortstop and bat eighth. Rotowire.com 43 minutes ago

  • Sharp after rough start
Gibson (2-2) earned the win against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over six innings while striking out six.

Advice: Gibson got off to a rocky start, allowing back-to-back hits while also hitting Joc Pederson with a pitch to open the game. However, the right-hander managed to escape the inning with only one run coming across before shutting out the Diamondbacks over the next five frames. Gibson has now gone at least six innings in each of his first five starts to open the season, posting a 20:12 K:BB over that stretch. He's also gone two starts without allowing a home run after allowing at least one long ball in each of his first three outings. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago

  • Hit with tough loss
Montgomery (1-1) took the loss against the Cardinals on Wednesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits while walking one and striking out four over seven innings.

Advice: Montgomery kept the Cardinals' lineup at bay for most of the contest despite allowing the leadoff man to reach base in three of his first four innings of work. St. Louis would finally get to him in the sixth, however, after the lefty allowed back-to-back hits with one out, followed by an unearned run on a wild pitch. Montgomery actually pitched well on the afternoon despite being tagged with the loss, throwing 20 of his first 28 pitches for strikes while going at least six innings for the second consecutive start to begin his 2024 campaign. He also carries a solid 7:1 K:BB through two starts. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago
