      Jones will be shut down for two weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 right lat strain, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

      Advice: Jones will be re-evaluated after those two weeks before the next steps of his rehab are determined. The rookie right-hander suffered the injury during his last start Wednesday against the Cardinals and was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday.       Advice: Making his third rehab start with Sacramento since landing on the 15-day injured list June 3, Snell made quick work of the Reno lineup, needing just 67 pitches (46 strikes) to record 15 outs. Based on how well he performed in addition to increasing his workload, Snell should be ready to return from the IL next week to make his next start with the Giants.       Bassitt (7-7) took the loss against Houston on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

      Advice: Bassitt got off to a terrible start in allowing six of the first seven batters he faced to reach base, resulting in three Astros runs. The veteran hurler bounced back to give up just one more run over the remainder of his five frames, but the first-inning damage was enough to send him to his seventh loss of the season. Bassitt had been rolling coming into Thursday, posting a 1.41 ERA across his previous five starts, and the four runs he yielded against Houston were his most since he gave up seven runs against the Dodgers on April 26. Bassitt's overall numbers this season have been pretty much in line with what fantasy managers have come to expect from him -- he has a 3.43 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 94:41 K:BB across 102.1 frames.       Advice: Rodriguez earned his first multi-hit effort and swatted his first homer in 15 games. During the slump, he went just 7-for-56 (.125) while failing to log an extra-base hit or RBI. Rodriguez's recent poor play has seen him bounce around the lineup in an effort to get his bat going -- he hit fifth Thursday but had batted seventh in the previous two games.       Julio Rodríguez went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and also stole a base on Thursday, powering the Mariners to a 7-3 victory over the Orioles.

      Advice: Rodríguez connected for his first homer since June 15 when he launched a towering 428-foot blast to left field off Orioles ace Corbin Burnes in the fifth inning. It was his eighth round-tripper of the season and a much-needed sign for the 23-year-old superstar, who has been mired in a season-long tailspin at the dish. The absence of over-the-fence pop has been the most alarming trend in his sudden decline, so this performance certainly qualifies as a step in the right direction.       Rafael Devers drove in two runs while walking three times in a victory over the Marlins in extra-innings Thursday.

      Advice: Hard to drive in runs without getting a hit, but Devers is capable of doing anything he set his mind to. He drove in both runs on fielder’s choices. All three of the walks were intentional, which is not something you see too often in 2024, or any year really. He’s now hitting .288/.375/.568 on the season with 51 RBI.       Chris Bassitt went five innings while allowing four runs in a loss to the Astros on Thursday.

      Advice: Bassitt, 35, gave up eight hits, walked four and struck out three. Most of the damage was done early, as he gave up three runs in the first inning before settling down. The right-hander had allowed just three total earned runs over his last two starts, so it goes without saying this outing — while not horrific — didn’t keep that good run going.
