    • Tosses eight scoreless frames
Gilbert (3-0) earned the win in Saturday's 5-0 victory over Houston, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out six batters over eight scoreless innings.

Advice: Gilbert tied a season-high mark with four walks, but that didn't hurt him since he gave up just a pair of hits (both singles). The right-hander notched his fifth straight quality start and lowered his season ERA to 1.69, fifth lowest among qualified MLB pitchers. Gilbert also ranks fifth among qualified starters with a 0.79 WHIP and has registered a 50:13 K:BB through 48 innings on the campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:27 pm
    • Logan Gilbert hurls eight shutout frames vs. Astros
Logan Gilbert fired eight shutout innings on Saturday in a win over the Astros.

Advice: Gilbert continued putting zeroes on the scoreboard against a loaded Astros lineup, needing just 96 pitches (60 strikes) to navigate eight dominant frames. The 27-year-old burgeoning fantasy ace finished with six strikeouts and only allowed six baserunners as Houston’s lineup mustered just five batted balls with an exit velocity over 95 mph. He’s allowed two earned runs or fewer in six of his seven starts so far this season. He’ll bring a pristine 1.69 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 50/13 K/BB ratio across 48 innings (seven starts) into a road tilt on Thursday against the Twins. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:14 pm
    • Brilliant in no-decision
Jones did not factor into the decision in Saturday's win against the Rockies. He allowed one hit and no walks while striking out 10 over seven scoreless innings.

Advice: The 22-year-old right-hander bounced back from a rather modest showing his last time out, matching his career high with 10 strikeouts. Jones got 17 swings and misses on 96 pitches and touched 100 mph with his heater a couple times. While he has a losing record at 2-3, Jones is off to a historically great start to his career. He became the first pitcher in Pirates history with an outing consisting of seven shutout innings, one hit or fewer allowed, 10 strikeouts and zero walks Saturday, and per MLB's Sarah Langs, Jones is the first pitcher since at least 1901 with 50-plus strikeouts and five or fewer walks in his first seven career starts. • Jared Jones strikes out ten over seven scoreless
Jared Jones tossed seven shutout innings with ten strikeouts in a no-decision against the Rockies on Saturday.

Advice: There were some concerns over Jones’ velocity his last time out. He looked just fine on Saturday, shutting down the Rockies over seven innings. He was back up to 97.6 mph on the fastball, generating 17 whiffs to strike out ten batters. Jones allowed just one baserunner on the day, a double by Elias Díaz in the fifth inning. The 22-year-old right-hander will take an outstanding 2.63 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and a 52/5 K/BB ratio across 41 innings into a start against the Cubs in Pittsburgh on Friday. • Rangers place Nathan Eovaldi (groin) on 15-day IL
Rangers placed RHP Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day injured list with a right groin strain.

Advice: Eovaldi suffered the injury while twirling a gem against the Nationals on Thursday afternoon. The Rangers have not yet commented on how long they expect the 34-year-old right-hander to be sidelined for. Yerry Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to take his place on the roster for the time being. Rotoworld Friday, 2:42 pm

    • Limited session coming Saturday
Snell (thigh) will throw around 50 pitches Saturday during a bullpen session, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Manager Bob Melvin said if all goes well, the team will make a decision on whether Snell will have a rehab assignment or face hitters in live batting practice next. It was already anticipated that Snell would need more than the minimum 15 days on the injured list with his Grade 2 adductor strain, so a mid-May return is still the best-case scenario. • Put on injured list
Eovaldi was placed on the 15-day injured list on Friday with a strained right groin.

Advice: Eovaldi underwent an MRI on Friday which confirmed a right groin strain. He'll join Max Scherzer (back) on the shelf, while Yerry Rodriguez will join the big-league roster. Eovaldi's next start was scheduled for Tuesday, an opening that could be filled by Jack Leiter, who's currently in Triple-A. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:52 pm

    • MRI scheduled Friday
Eovaldi (groin) will undergo an MRI on Friday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Eovaldi, who was removed from Thursday's win over the Nationals, will travel with the club to Kansas City for the procedure. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said the team is "being cautious" with the 34-year-old right-hander, whose next turn is due Tuesday. Nothing will be determined until after the MRI, but Bochy indicated Eovaldi might just need some rest. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:14 am

    • Nathan Eovaldi exits start due to groin tightness
Nathan Eovaldi was removed from Thursday’s start against the Nationals due to right groin tightness.

Advice: Eovaldi will continue to undergo further evaluation, including an MRI on Friday following an early exit from Thursday afternoon’s showdown with a trainer after 92 pitches through 5 2/3 scoreless frames. The 34-year-old righty finished with eight strikeouts and only issued a pair of walks. He was unlikely to work much further into the contest, but the fact that he’s dealing with a groin issue certainly puts his next start in serious jeopardy. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:19 pm
