    Gabriel Moreno (thumb) could be activated off the injured list as as soon as Tuesday, Jody Jackson of the Diamondbacks reports.

    Advice: Moreno was placed on the injured list last Saturday with a sprained left thumb, and he’ll be eligible for activation Tuesday. The 24-year-old may get a couple extra days, but the Diamondbacks already announced they don’t believe he needs a rehab assignment, so it would take something unforeseeable for him not to be back before the middle of the week.     Rockies activated C Elias Diaz off the 10-day injured list.

    Advice: Diaz missed two weeks while dealing with a left calf strain. The backstop is in the starting lineup Sunday as the designated hitter, and he should be able to move behind the plate in the coming days.     The Rockies reinstated Diaz (calf) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. He'll serve as the Rockies' designated hitter and will bat fifth in Sunday's series finale versus the White Sox, according to Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette.

    Advice: Colorado designated infielder Elehuris Montero for assignment to clear room on the active roster for Diaz, who returns to action after missing just under three weeks with a left calf strain. Though he'll operate as the Rockies' DH in his first game back, Diaz should soon settle back into primary duties at catcher, leaving fewer opportunities to go around for Jacob Stallings and Hunter Goodman.     Wells went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in a 9-3 loss to Toronto on Saturday.

    Advice: The Yankees got beat pretty soundly Saturday, so Wells' two-run blast in the ninth inning didn't make much of an impact on the outcome. However, it was a positive development for the catcher's stat line after he had gone just 3-for-18 at the plate over his previous nine games. Wells is slashing a modest .213/.304/.346 with three homers, 13 RBI, 18 runs and a stolen base on the campaign. Over New York's past six contests, Jose Trevino has started four times to Wells' two starts, but the tide may be shifting with Wells getting his second straight start Sunday.     Advice: Lee added insurance runs in the eighth inning of Saturday's win by popping his eighth home run of the season. Despite going yard three times in his last 12 games, Lee is in a lengthy slump, hitting just .175 across 80 at-bats in June.     Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Saturday that Gabriel Moreno (thumb) is not expected to require a rehab assignment.

    Advice: Moreno is getting back up to speed in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League at the moment, but Lovullo made it sound like he’ll return on Tuesday instead of getting into some additional minor league contests.
