• DL Hall gets through 2 2/3 scoreless in rehab
DL Hall pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings in his latest rehab appearance with Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Advice: Hall, on the IL since late April with a sprained left knee, allowed four hits, walked one and struck out none, so a dominant performance this was not. Hall’s 46 pitches were his high total in four appearances since he restarted his rehab assignment on June 13. At this rate, he might be optioned to the minors instead of rejoining the major league roster when his rehab assignment concludes. Rotoworld 8 minutes ago

  • Alex Faedo (hip) begins rehab assignment
Alex Faedo retired two of the three batters he faced in his first rehab appearance for Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Advice: Faedo has been out for three weeks with hip inflammation. He should return to the Tigers pen in the near future. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

  • Allan Winans fans nine in Triple-A start
Allan Winans struck out nine over six scoreless innings for Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Advice: Winans is on some kind of roll at that moment; his last four starts have seen him allow one earned run and post a 34/4 K/BB in 25 innings. The 28-year-old made one start for the Braves back in April, giving up six earned runs in five innings, but he’ll be in line for another shot if something opens up. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Reds call up Graham Ashcraft to start Wednesday
Reds recalled RHP Graham Ashcraft from Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Ashcraft, who had a 3.00 ERA in his two starts for Louisville after being sent down earlier this month, will start against the Pirates today. The Reds weren’t wanting to bring him back quite this soon, but Nick Lodolo’s blister created a need. Ashcraft was struggling before the demotion, having posted a 5.05 ERA overall and a 6.83 ERA in his final six starts. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

  • Reds send Yosver Zulueta back to Triple-A
Reds optioned RHP Yosver Zulueta to Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Zulueta performed well in his major league debut last night, allowing one run and striking out four in three innings out of the pen. It’ll help his chances of getting the call next time the Reds need a reliever. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago

  • Sent back to minors
The Reds optioned Zulueta to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

Advice: Zulueta made his major-league debut in Tuesday's 9-5 loss to the Pirates, striking out four and allowing one run over a three-inning relief appearance. He'll head back to Louisville to make space on the roster for Graham Ashcraft, who has been recalled from Louisville to start Wednesday's series finale versus Pittsburgh. • Recalled ahead of start
The Reds recalled Ashcraft from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

Advice: Ashcraft will get the start Wednesday against the Pirates, taking the rotation spot of the injured Nick Lodolo (finger). The right-hander has struggled at the big-league level this season, collecting a 5.05 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 62.1 innings over 12 starts. He appeared to get back on track in two starts with Louisville, giving up a total of four runs with a 12:2 K:BB over 12 innings. Ashcraft will likely be needed for multiple starts and will try to make a case to stick in the Reds rotation indefinitely. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago

  • Workload 'going to start dwindling'
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Tuesday of Crochet that "we're going to start dwindling his workload down a little bit," the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Crochet already sits at 94.1 innings in 2024 in his first pro season as a starting pitcher. He threw zero innings in 2022 and just 25 frames in 2023 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, and his highest innings total in college at Tennessee was 65. Therefore, his workload being curtailed at some point was inevitable. Grifol didn't divulge any specifics in regards to pitch counts or innings totals for Crochet, indicating he'll be flexible start-to-start based on how efficient the pitcher is. The manager also didn't mention anything about Crochet being shut down completely at some point, although it's certainly possible that will happen. It's not an ideal situation for fantasy managers, but those rostering Crochet will want to keep him in their lineups as long as he's making starts. Rotowire.com Today, 6:46 am

  • Buckles against Bucs
Greene (5-3) took the loss Tuesday, surrendering six runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings as the Reds fell 9-5 to the Pirates. He struck out five.

Advice: Aggressive baserunning helped Pittsburgh score three times in the first inning before adding three more in the third, and Cincy was never able to climb out of the hole. The loss was Greene's first since April 22 -- over the 10 starts in between, he'd posted a sharp 2.80 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 62:26 K:BB through 61 innings. The 24-year-old right-hander will look to regain that form in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in St. Louis. Rotowire.com Today, 6:24 am
