    • Blown save, loss versus Texas
McArthur (1-1) blew a save and picked up the loss after he pitched two innings, surrendering two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out three batters in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning defeat to the Rangers.

Advice: McArthur entered the game with the Royals up 2-1 in the top of the ninth inning, giving up a game-tying solo home run to Jonah Heim with one out in the inning. He later returned for the top of the 10th frame, allowing the inherited runner to score on an RBI single by Nathaniel Lowe. The blown save was McArthur's second in nine total save opportunities this season and he currently possesses a 2.87 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 18 strikeouts over 15.2 innings in 13 appearances this season. • Bryce Miller gives up two homers to Astros
Bryce Miller surrendered four runs in six innings Sunday against the Astros.

Advice: Jon Singleton and Kyle Tucker both hit two-run homers off Miller, but this was still hardly a disaster. He’s really been great at limiting the damage in his worse starts this season, and he’s allowed a total of two earned runs in his four good outings, leaving him with a 2.61 ERA in 41 1/3 innings to date. • Throws in XST
Sewald (oblique) threw an inning in an extended spring training game Saturday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Sewald came out of the session feeling good, and if he continues to respond to activity the same way, the Diamondbacks plan to activate him for the series opener against the Reds on Tuesday. He's expected to resume his role as the team's closer after saving 13 of 15 opportunities following his acquisition from Seattle at the trade deadline in 2023. Rotowire.com Today, 8:48 am

    • In line to start Tuesday
Sanchez will start Tuesday against the Blue Jays, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Advice: Sanchez was available in relief for Saturday's game, but because he wasn't needed, he's now set up to start Tuesday. Meanwhile, Spencer Turnbull will be available in relief Sunday in what could wind up being a piggyback situation with Taijuan Walker. The roles of all three pitchers seem somewhat in flux. • Punches out eight
Singer took a no-decision Friday against the Rangers after allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out eight batters through six innings. He did not issue a walk.

Advice: Although Singer turned in yet another strong outing Friday, his contributions went unrewarded as the Royals were unable to take the lead until after the 27-year-old was removed from the game, giving the win to John Schreiber instead. Singer didn't get the win, but his 2.45 ERA and 42 strikeouts through 40.1 innings on the season still give fantasy managers plenty of reason to be pleased with his performance to begin the year. • Blows save, takes first loss Friday
Foley (2-1) allowed two runs on four hits without recording an out to blow the save and take the loss Friday against the Yankees.

Advice: Foley came on in the ninth inning to protect a 1-0 Detroit lead, but the righty struggled and blew his first save of the season in 10 chances. He's still sitting with a solid 2.63 ERA overall and should remain the team's closer for now, though it's a fluid situation with Alex Lange, Shelby Miller and Andrew Chafin all potentially waiting in the wings if Foley stumbles again. Lange led the Tigers with 26 saves last year and has been sharp with a 0.75 ERA in 2024, so he may be the next man up in this bullpen. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:23 am

    • Jason Foley implodes in ninth inning on Friday
Jason Foley suffered a brutal blown save against the Yankees on Friday night, surrendering hits to all four batters that he faced.

Advice: Yikes. In what was a terrific pitcher’s duel that had the Tigers leading 1-0 heading to the ninth inning, Foley immediately got off on the wrong foot by allowing a leadoff single to Aaron Judge. Alex Verdugo then dropped down a bunt single with third baseman Zach McKinstry playing back, setting the stage for Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton then ripped an RBI double into right field on the second pitch he saw, and Anthony Rizzo followed with a run-scoring single to walk it off. Foley is probably still fine in the ninth inning, as he has converted nine of his first 10 save chances, though his 1.54 WHIP leads much to be desired. Rotoworld Friday, 7:13 pm

    • Brady Singer whiffs eight, allows one run vs Texas
Brady Singer struck out eight over six innings of one-run baseball against the Rangers on Friday, but didn’t factor into the decision.

Advice: Unfortunately for Singer, Michael Lorenzen held the Royals to just one run while he was in the game. Fortunately for Singer and fans of Kansas City, they scored the next six runs, but alas, no victory. Fantasy managers do get plenty of strikeouts, however, and he lowered his ERA to 2.45 in the process. Singer will try and keep the good run going when he faces the Brewers on Wednesday. • Paul Sewald (oblique) expected to return Tuesday
Paul Sewald (oblique) is expected to be activated from the injured list ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Reds.

Advice: The 33-year-old right-hander has been shelved since the end of March due to a left oblique strain, but is finally ready to make his mark on the 2024 season. That means that Kevin Ginkel’s hold on the closer’s role will come to an end after the D’Backs’ weekend series against the Padres. Rotoworld Friday, 3:28 pm
