• Worst start of season versus Angels
Valdez (3-2) allowed eight runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out three over five innings to take the loss Monday versus the Angels.

Advice: Valdez followed up his seven-shutout-innings start versus the Athletics with a dud Monday. He was doing fine until the Angels rallied for seven runs in the fifth, including three-run home runs by Nolan Schanuel and Logan O'Hoppe and a solo shot from Jo Adell. Valdez is now at a 4.32 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB through 41.2 innings over seven starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road in Seattle. • Daniel Hudson works perfect ninth for save
Daniel Hudson pitched a perfect ninth for his third save Monday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Hudson fanned two of the three batters he faced against his former team. He’ll likely resume working in a setup role once Evan Phillips rejoins the Dodgers next week, but until then, he’s a worthy play in mixed leagues. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago
  • Slade Cecconi gives up six runs in bulk role
After taking over for opener Joe Mantiply, Slade Cecconi gave up six runs in five innings Monday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Mantiply did his part in the first and Cecconi kept it going with a scoreless second, but he went on to five up three homers in the third inning. It was impressive how Cecconi rebounded with three scoreless innings afterwards, but the damage was done. Cecconi is now 1-4 with a 6.12 ERA, and his rotation spot appears to be in jeopardy. • Allows run but converts save
Estevez allowed a run on two hits and a walk without striking out a batter over one inning, earning the save in Monday's 9-7 win over the Astros.

Advice: Estevez's last two outings came in non-save situations after he blew a save May 10 versus the Royals. The closer is now 7-for-10 in save chances this season, though there are some warning signs reemerging after he struggled late in 2023. He's now at a 5.17 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB through 15.2 innings this season. As long as the walk rate stays down, Estevez should be able to right the ship, but he's allowed multiple baserunners in six of his last 10 outings. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago
  • Goes four innings Monday
Detmers allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out three over four innings in a no-decision versus the Astros.

Advice: Detmers' run of poor pitching continued. Five of the six runs came on home runs by Jose Altuve and Mauricio Dubon. Detmers has allowed at least four runs in each of his last six starts, and this was the fourth time in that span he's surrendered multiple homers. The southpaw has an ugly 5.80 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 59:19 K:BB through 54.1 innings across 10 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Guardians. • Hit hard in loss
Kremer (3-4) allowed five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two over four innings to take the loss Monday versus the Cardinals.

Advice: Mike Siani was responsible for plating four of the runs on Kremer's line with an RBI single and a three-run home run. This was a second straight sub-par start for Kremer, who has allowed 11 runs (eight earned) over his last 9.2 innings. The right-hander is at a 4.32 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 49:18 K:BB through 50 innings over nine starts this season. The Orioles have a busy schedule through the end of June, so Kremer is unlikely to lose his place in the rotation in the near future, but he'll need to be sharper than he has been lately to maintain his spot in the second half of the season. He is projected to make his next start on the road versus the White Sox. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago

  • Picks up 14th save
Helsley walked one and struck out none over a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Monday's 6-3 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Helsley hadn't pitched since last Tuesday, but he didn't show much rust. The closer is on a 10-inning scoreless streak, and he's earned seven saves and a win in that span. For the season, he's 14-for-15 in save chances with a 2-2 record, a 1.29 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 23:3 K:BB over 21 innings. Helsley's strong pitching has helped him go unquestioned as the Cardinals' closer this year, though the team's 21-26 record leaves some doubt as to if he can keep picking up saves at such a strong pace. • Collects sixth win
Gray (6-2) allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings to earn the win Monday over the Orioles.

Advice: Gray gave up a three-run blast to Gunnar Henderson in the sixth inning, but the Cardinals were able to maintain their lead after that. The long ball has become a problem for the veteran right-hander -- he's surrendered five homers while giving up 14 runs (12 earned) over his last 16.2 innings. He's still managed to win two of his three starts in that span. Gray is at a 2.87 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 59:10 K:BB through 47 innings across eight starts this season. He allowed all of eight homers in 32 starts last year, so it's worth keeping an eye on whether Gray can keep the ball down better moving forward. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Cubs. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago

  • Earns third save
Stratton struck out one batter over 1.1 perfect innings and earned a save over the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: Stratton entered the eighth innings with two outs and bases jammed. He escaped the threat and retired the side in order to preserve the win. The dangerous circumstances allowed him to earn the save despite Kansas City winning 8-3, which would explain why James McArthur wasn't used. Stratton owns a 4.95 ERA with three saves and three holds through 19 appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 8:31 pm
