      The Padres placed Darvish on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left groin strain.

      Advice: Darvish had to make an early exit from his start Wednesday against Miami due to hamstring problems, but the issue appears to instead be groin-related. His move to the IL is backdated to Thursday, allowing him to be eligible to return June 14. He will be joined by fellow starter Joe Musgrove (elbow) on the injured list while Randy Vasquez and Logan Gillaspie come up from Triple-A El Paso to take their places.       Padres placed RHP Yu Darvish on the 15-day injured list with a left groin strain.

      Advice: Darvish was originally believed to be dealing with a hamstring issue, but it turns out to be a groin strain that will keep him sidelined for at least a few weeks. The 37-year-old righty lasted just three innings on Wednesday against the Marlins before exiting due to hamstring tightness and holds a solid 3.20 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 53/15 K/BB ratio over 56 1/3 innings (11 starts) this season.     • Astros don’t provide update on Cristian Javier
      Astros’ manager Joe Espada did not give an update on right-handers Cristian Javier and Jose Urquidy on Friday, aside from saying that he’s giving both pitchers space while they are awaiting second opinions.

      Advice: If that’s not discouraging enough, Espada also refused to comment when asked if the pitchers’ UCL’s were intact. Lovely.       The Padres are still evaluating Darvish's left hamstring injury and have not ruled out him making his next scheduled start Tuesday versus the Angels, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

      Advice: Darvish had to be lifted from Wednesday's outing against the Marlins after his hamstring tightened up on him. While it's a good sign he hasn't been placed on the 10-day injured list yet, no final determination has been made regarding his status for his next turn or a possible IL stint.       Padres’ manager Mike Shildt told reporters on Friday that Yu Darvish (hamsting) is still being evaluated and that there’s a chance he’ll be able to make his next scheduled start on Tuesday.

      Advice: The Padres haven’t placed Darvish on the injured list — and may not at all — depending on how he feels over the next couple of days. It sounds like they’ll continue to take things a day at a time with the 37-year-old hurler.       Crawford (2-4) took the loss against Baltimore on Wednesday, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings.

      Advice: Crawford was excellent outside of the second inning -- he gave up five runs on three hits, a walk and a hit batter in that frame, with the big blow being a grand slam by Gunnar Henderson. The right-hander did hold the Orioles scoreless on one hit the rest of the way, but the damage was too much to overcome against Baltimore starter Corbin Burnes.       Burnes (5-2) earned the win over Boston on Wednesday, allowing an unearned run on three hits and three walks while striking out five batters over seven innings.

      Advice: Burnes was splendid in the outing, yielding no extra-base hits and allowing zero earned runs for the second time in his past three starts. The right-hander's five strikeouts were mildly disappointing, but he did have his swing-and-miss stuff working with 16 whiffs in the contest.       Corbin Burnes picked up his fifth victory of the season on Wednesday night, limiting the Red Sox to just one unearned run on three hits over seven strong frames.

      Advice: Burnes racked up five strikeouts on the night while issuing two free passes. The lone tally against him came via a one-out single, throwing error, errant pickoff throw and ground ball combination in the second inning. The 29-year-old hurler got 16 swings and misses on 108 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 28 percent.       Kutter Crawford struggled again in Wednesday’s loss to the Orioles, giving up five runs on four hits over six innings of work.

      Advice: The right-hander punched out five batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. All of the scoring against him came in the second inning, as Ramon Urias smacked an RBI single and then Gunnar Henderson changed the game with a 422-foot grand slam. Crawford rebounded nicely to finish the day with four scoreless frames, but the damage had already been done. The 28-year-old hurler got 10 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 22 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he carries a 3.29 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 66/22 K/BB ratio (68 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Braves. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:06 pm
