    • Justin Verlander hit hard in loss to Yankees
Justin Verlander allowed seven run on eight hits over five innings in a loss to the Yankees on Tuesday.

Advice: Verlander also walked three, struck out just two, and gave up three home runs on the day. The 41-year-old simply didn’t have it on Tuesday, allowing a three-run homer to light-hitting Alex Verdugo in the first inning. He allowed a run in four of his five innings on the day and posted just an 11 percent whiff rate and 20 percent CSW. His ERA is now 4.43 on the season and he has 16 strikeouts and 10 walks in 22 1/3 innings on the season. It has not been a particularly effective start, but he should have a much easier time against the Athletics next week. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago
    • Gallen throws six shutout in win
Zac Gallen threw six shutout innings in a 6-2 win over the Reds, allowing just one hit while striking out six.

Advice: Gallen also walked three batters on the day and started just 11 of the 22 batters he faced with a strike. In fact, Gallen threw pitches in the strike zone just 46 percent of the time on the day; however, when he was able to get a pitch in the zone, the Reds had a really tough time making contact which led Gallen to post a 26 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW. It wasn’t his sharpest outing, but he benefited from a Reds team that is having a tough time hitting anybody right now. The effort lowered Gallen’s ERA to 2.84, and he gets a much tougher test against the Orioles this weekend. Rotoworld Today, 6:32 pm

    • Isaac Paredes posts three hits, homers in win
Isaac Paredes went 3-for-4 with a solo homer on Tuesday, leading the Rays to a 5-1 victory over the White Sox.

Advice: Paredes ripped an absolute moonshot to left field in the sixth inning off Chicago reliever Brad Keller for his eighth round-tripper of the season. It was the first time he’s gone deep since April 28. The 25-year-old pull-happy slugger has been a four-category fantasy monster this season with a .299 batting average through 34 contests. • D-backs activate Paul Sewald for Tuesday return
Diamondbacks activated RHP Paul Sewald from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Sewald has been sidelined since the beginning of the regular season with a left oblique strain. The 33-year-old veteran, who finished with a 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP with both the Mariners and Diamondbacks last season, will slide back as the D-backs’ closer which puts an end to Kevin Ginkel’s brief stint in the role. • Officially back from injured list
The Diamondbacks reinstated Sewald (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: The 33-year-old right-hander has been sidelined by an oblique strain but is ready to rejoin the team following three rehab appearances. Manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Sewald will immediately reclaim the closer role, per Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. Kevin Ginkel -- who has tallied five saves with a 2.57 ERA in 14 appearances -- will return to a setup role. Rotowire.com Today, 12:39 pm
    • Steals another base
Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a stolen base Monday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Chisholm put his speed on display in the first inning, reaching on a leadoff infield single, swiping second base and coming around to score on a single. He finished with his second straight multi-hit game, and he's stolen three bases over that pair of contests. Chisholm's career high in stolen bases is 23 (set in 2021), and he's on pace to surpass that mark with eight thefts through 36 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:13 pm

    • Takes loss despite quality start
Flaherty (0-2) took the loss Monday against Cleveland, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Flaherty struggled with the Guardians' power, yielding three extra-base hits, including a solo homer in the sixth frame to Jose Ramirez. While the veteran righty has been an excellent source of strikeouts with 56 K's through 42 innings, he hasn't been as dominant in the run department but still owns a 3.86 ERA and has walked merely six batters. Flaherty will likely take the mound Sunday against the Astros for his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:11 pm
    • Justin Steele sharp over 4 2/3 in return from IL
Justin Steele fired 4 2/3 shutout innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Padres.

Advice: Steele limited San Diego’s offense to just three hits and one walk, notching a pair of strikeouts, in his return at Wrigley Field following a five-weeks absence due to a hamstring strain. The 28-year-old ace averaged nearly 92 mph on his four-seam fastball in this one and got his pitch count up to 68 (43 strikes) before being lifted in the fifth inning. He’s in line to face the Pirates on Sunday his next time out. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:42 pm
    • Sharp in return
Steele allowed three hits and a walk over 4.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out two during the loss to San Diego.

Advice: Steele made his first start since straining his hamstring during his Opening Day outing. He showed no signs of rust but was clearly on a limit, as he threw only 68 pitches. He gave up one extra-base hit but otherwise kept San Diego's bats quiet. Steele has given up one run through 9.1 innings in two starts this season. The 28-year-old should be able to pitch deeper in his next outing, which is lined up to be in Pittsburgh this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:33 pm
