    • Stuck with loss in quality start
Quintana (1-5) took the loss in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, giving up three runs on eight hits over six innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

Advice: The veteran lefty didn't pitch badly, but a lack of run support and homers by Will Smith and Miguel Vargas doomed him to defeat as the Mets fell, 3-0. The quality start was Quintana's third of the season, and he'll carry a 5.06 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 39:18 K:BB through 58.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road early next week against the Nationals. • Decent in no-decision
Cortes allowed two runs on five hits and struck out four without walking a batter over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Cortes allowed multiple runs for the first time in three starts, but it was still a passable outing for the southpaw. He allowed a total of nine runs (eight earned) over 29 innings across five starts in May while adding a 30:8 K:BB in that span. Cortes is at a 3.30 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 67:15 K:BB through 71 innings over 12 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road in San Francisco. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:55 pm
    • Nestor Cortes holds Angels to two runs over 5 1/3
Nestor Cortes was uninvolved in the decision Tuesday after allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Angels.

Advice: The key for Cortes this season is simply to allow zero earned runs. He’s 3-0 when that happens and 0-4 the rest of the time. It’s something he’ll just have to work on prior to his start against the Giants on Sunday. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:28 pm
    • José Quintana allows two homers in loss to Dodgers
José Quintana allowed three runs over six innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Quintana took the ball for the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader at Citi Field and was tagged for eight hits, including homers by Will Smith and Miguel Vargas in the first and sixth inning, respectively. He notched three strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. It wasn’t his worst outing of the season, but the veteran lefty got absolutely zero support from New York’s lineup in this one. He’ll bring an inflated 5.06 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 39/18 K/BB ratio across 58 2/3 innings (11 starts) into a road matchup on Monday against the Nationals. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:08 pm
    • Officially placed on injured list
The Pirates placed Perez on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a left groin strain.

Advice: Perez injured his groin while covering first base during Sunday's start against Atlanta. He initially remained in the game before eventually being pulled. It's not clear at this point how long the southpaw might be sidelined. Quinn Priester will likely be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to replace Perez in the Pirates rotation. • Martin Pérez officially heads to IL with groin injury
Pirates placed LHP Martin Pérez on the 15-day injured list with a left groin strain.

Advice: As expected, Pérez will miss at least two weeks while he deals with the groin injury that caused him to leave his start Sunday versus Atlanta. Pittsburgh didn’t add a pitcher as the corresponding transaction, but they’ll need to make a move to replace the southpaw in the rotation. Quinn Priester is likely that arm. • Headed to injured list
Pirates manager Derek Shelton said Tuesday in an interview with 93.7 The Fan Pittsburgh that Perez (groin) will be placed on the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Perez suffered a left groin injury during Sunday's start against Atlanta, and while the severity is unclear at the moment, it's evidently bad enough that the left-hander will be sidelined for at least a couple weeks. Quinn Priester looms as an obvious candidate to replace Perez in the Pittsburgh rotation. Perez's next turn will come up Sunday in Toronto. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:21 am

    • Martin Pérez heading to IL with groin injury
Pirates manager Derek Shelton told reporters that Martin Pérez will be placed on the injured list with his groin injury.

Advice: Pérez left Sunday’s start against Atlanta with a left groin injury, and the southpaw will now miss at least a couple of weeks while he’s away from the team. There’s no word yet as to who will take Pérez’s place in the rotation, but Pittsburgh will have to add a new arm to the group over the weekend. Quinn Priester could make sense, as he pitched Sunday and would be on turn for Pérez’s spot. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:16 am

    • Leaves game with groin injury
Perez was removed from Sunday's game against Atlanta due to a left groin injury.

Advice: Perez left after the third inning of Sunday's contest, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out two. Carmen Mlodzinski came in for Perez for the top of the fourth inning. The severity of the injury is not known, and Perez is currently slated to make his next start June 2 against the Blue Jays.
