    • Anthony Volpe collects three hits in win Wednesday
Anthony Volpe went 3-for-5 with a triple and a pair of runs scored as the Yankees topped the Twins on Wednesday evening in New York.

Advice: Volpe led off the home half of the first inning with a single and came around to score the game’s first run on a ground ball off the bat of Aaron Judge. He also singled in the fifth inning and scored on Aaron Judge’s three-run triple. Volpe then smacked a three-bagger of his own in the eighth inning, but the Bombers couldn’t cash him in. He’s having an outstanding season atop the Yankees’ lineup — hitting .290/.355/.448 with six homers, 25 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:46 pm

    • Set to return to lineup Friday
Burger said that he's not dealing with any soreness or pain in his intercostal muscle, but he's out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays as a matter of caution, Noah Berger of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Advice: Burger was on the injured list from April 15 through May 6 with a left intercostal strain, and he appeared to tweak the muscle on a swing during Tuesday's 9-5 loss. He was able to stay in the game, and Burger's condition hasn't seemed to have taken a turn for the worse heading into Wednesday's series finale. However, with a team off day Thursday, both Burger and manager Skip Schumaker agreed that it was for the best for the third baseman to get a two-day break by exiting the lineup Wednesday. Burger is fully expected to be back in the starting nine Friday versus the Guardians. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:58 pm

    • Jake Burger (oblique) takes day off as precaution
Jake Burger is getting Wednesday off after tweaking his oblique on a swing during Tuesday’s game.

Advice: Burger said he felt fine today and that this is just a precaution. He was sidelined from April 14 to May 5 after straining his left oblique. Expectations are that he’ll be in Friday’s lineup after the off day tomorrow. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:34 pm

    • Not starting, could be hurt
Burger is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: While Burger was likely overdue for a day off after making 17 consecutive starts dating back to May 15, his absence from the lineup Wednesday could be the result of an injury. As Christina De Nicola of MLB.com points out, Burger looked to have tweaked an intercostal muscle on a swing during Tuesday's 9-5 loss, though he stayed in the game after telling manager Skip Schumaker that he was fine. Burger was previously on the injured list from April 15 through May 6 with an intercostal strain, so fantasy managers will likely want to keep close tabs on his status heading into the Marlins' series versus the Guardians this weekend. • Jeff McNeil rides pine for third straight game
Jeff McNeil is sitting versus a left-hander for a third straight game on Wednesday.

Advice: McNeil would have played Tuesday had Trevor Williams not been scratched, but after he was replaced by a southpaw, McNeil again rode the pine. McNeil hasn’t actually been any worse against lefties (.246/.290/.323) than righties (.217/.299/.319) this year, but it probably is the case that Jose Iglesias is the better option versus southpaws. • Hitting bench against lefty again
McNeil is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Mets have opposed left-handed starting pitchers in three straight games, and the lefty-hitting McNeil has been on the bench for each of those contests. McNeil hasn't been a strict platoon player for much of his tenure with the Mets, but manager Carlos Mendoza has chosen to limit the 32-year-old's exposure to southpaws while he's mustered a modest .275 wOBA over 69 plate appearances against lefties on the season. McNeil hasn't fared much better against right-handed pitching either (.281 wOBA in 155 plate appearances), but the Mets haven't offered any indication that he's at risk of losing out on starts in those matchups. • Slugs 14th homer
Alonso went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Nationals.

Advice: The first baseman took Washington closer Kyle Finnegan deep to left field in the ninth inning to give the Mets an insurance run. Alonso's racked up seven hits, including three doubles and two homers, over the last six games, and since May 7 he's slashing .279/.330/.548 in 26 contests with six of his 14 long balls and 15 of his 31 RBI on the season. • Struggles with shaky defense
Imanaga allowed five runs (one earned) on seven hits and struck out six without walking a batter over 4.1 innings in a no-decision versus the White Sox on Tuesday.

Advice: Christopher Morel's fielding error in the fourth inning was costly, as the White Sox rallied against Imanaga. The southpaw ultimately exited in the fifth after just 69 pitches (48 strikes), and the Cubs rallied to get him off the hook. After a historically strong first nine major-league starts, Imanaga has been tagged for 12 runs (eight earned) over 8.2 innings in his last two appearances. He's now at a 1.88 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 65:10 K:BB over 62.1 innings. His control remains sharp, so it's likely this recent poor stretch is just a bit of regression that he'll have to work through. • Powers team to win
Morel went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Morel launched his 11th home run of the season and second in the last five games in the sixth inning to spark the Cubs' comeback victory. The 24-year-old has been a bit all or nothing this year, as he's batting just .201; however, his power potential alone should keep him in Chicago's lineup most days and gives him fantasy upside, which he flashed last season with 26 long balls in only 388 at-bats.
